How to Make: Tonfa “Star Wars – Rogue One Jyn Erso” – GreekGadgetGuru

Wow hey everyone today I’ll be showing
you how to make a powerful tonfa this is
an awesome weapon because it can be used
for offense and defense my version even
has a stealthy built-in blowgun for this
project you’re going to need some maker
pipe this is a really cool fitting made
specifically for 3/4 inch metal conduit
tubing which is a really an expensive
building material that can be found in
almost any hardware store you can buy 10
feet for less than $4 maker pipe is what
allows you to connect the handle to the
tonfa and a tea joint so this is really
important if you want to have a
streamline barrel for the blowgun the
3/4 inch conduit tubing needs to be cut
into 28 and 3 inch sections
I’d recommend buying a pipe cutting tool
seen here you will also need 3/4 inch
PVC pipe which can be bought pre-cut in
two foot sections for the handle you’ll
need to cut a two-inch section a heat
gun is also necessary and I’ve also
created a really jerry-rigged heating
trough and I’ll show you that shortly
sandpaper and a rotary sanding wheel
will also make your life much easier and
don’t forget these heat resistant gloves
these are a life saver ok so right now
I’m going to be heating up the PVC pipe
inside of what’s called a heating trough
which is just some scrap metal and some
C clamps that I made a little sort of
device that you can reflect the heat
back at the surface you’re trying to
heat up so it’s basically recycling the
heat and it takes way less time to make
your PVC pipe nice and soft and then
we’re going to jam it onto this pipe for
the handle and the striking surface now
one thing that I would recommend is
trimming down the edge so that it’s a
little bit easier to insert into the PVC
so I’m just going to do that by using
this disc sander
going to bring it in at this angle and
just twist to see if we can get that
nice little tapered edge not bad
all right so sorta and go in get in
there really get in there
see how hot this is getting it actually
burned the PVC let’s go okay so this is
still very hot so I can’t really grip it
but I had to kind of smash the one end
in in order to force it down and I used
those gloves those if you want to try
this are 100% necessary because you
can’t feel the heat and you have a grip
on this will like plastic give the grip
and I would not have been able to do
that so I went ahead and did this one
because very simple you only putting it
in a couple inches and then at the end
just going to cut this off using one of
these tools and hopefully I won’t have
to jam it because that that’s going to
make it
flare out so I’m probably what I’m going
to do is wait to trim this off and that
way if it’s gets damaged I don’t really
care because most likely it’s not going
to already break down to past where the
conduit tubing is so yeah we should be
good and I think this is going to turn
out nice
so here is what I have so far and you
can see that I left a little bit at the
end here not exactly sure what I’m going
to do with that yet but I’m thinking I’m
going to flare it out and make like a
mouthpiece so first I’m just going to
use a dremel tool to cut this off and it
doesn’t really have to be clean because
I’m gonna be grinding away a lot of it
and I’m gonna be using these little
guides here five one four ninety and
then this is a little bit more than
thirty I’d say about thirty four degrees
so a little tapered angle on the front
there so we’ll see what we get
now we’re going to add a keeper
the pipe is flushed with the PVC and
when we clean it up it’s going to look
pretty nice
so while the other one is cooling off
you can see it’s nice and flush I have a
feeling that this is going to definitely
hold up I mean this is very strong PVC
pipe is very strong I don’t know so I
think I’m going to add some of that
carbon fiber vinyl and that will give it
a really nice finished look so I left
this little piece of plastic here so
that I can make that into a mouthpiece
so you need something Kona cool that you
can heat up like metal and I found this
piece from a curtain rod and I’m just
going to see if this works so first
we’re going to start by heating up the
PVC make sure you don’t burn it you just
want to get it so it’s pliable
then I think that works really well what
do you think of that so here are the
blow darts and they’re really simple to
make you’re going to need a metal wire
tray you can buy two of these for a
dollar
also the cone on the end is made from
slide insert sheet protectors these
little plastic ones here and also you
may want a rotary tool to help sharpen
the point I’d also recommend pliers and
these wire cutters as well as some super
glue and scotch tape so to create this
we’re going to start off with our metal
wire trays and I’ve put little marks
here and here to show you where you’re
going to cut not take
you sort of bend it like that
take a post-it note and use it as a
stencil and then you’re going to fold
this into a cone shape and don’t be
afraid to use too much tape it something
like this now I’m going to sharpen these
darts I like to wear one of these face
shields using the conduit tubing as a
guide take the cone and stick it then
you want to mark a line and that’s where
you’re going to cut the cone and test it
last thing that you want to do is take
some superglue and press this through
I’d add some superglue right about here
and then since it’s so tight there it’s
going to gather right there at the at
the end there and if you want to add
some more you can but the reason that we
bent this originally was so that this
isn’t sort of slanting now it’s fitting
straight you can sort of see that’s much
nicer just test it out just put it in
your barrel perfect so here we have our
finished products each weighs two pounds
it’s a nice light weight self-defense
gadget that’s easy to make and packs a
powerful punch without breaking the bank
here you can see that I added some
carbon fiber vinyl for aesthetic
purposes you probably guess by now that
I really like this I’m also really
diggin the black and white stormtrooper
look of the PVC and maker pipe fittings
I haven’t made anything Star Wars
related just yet but this build really
inspired me maybe starting another
project to build on top of this that’s
based off of that really badass scene
from the force awakens
it would be really awesome to make
something like that and there’s a lot of
other modifications and add-ons that we
could come up with leave a comment below
on how you think these could be improved
I’m sorry if it’s a letdown that I
didn’t show these in action but I just
don’t like the inconsistency of testing
my creations on coconuts watermelons and
pumpkins they go out of season and they
get kind of expensive and also it’s kind
of a waste of food if you think about it
and I really don’t know that it shows
how tough my gadgets are lately I’ve
been thinking about introducing an enemy
to my channel something that I could
bash in like zombie go boom Ivan had or
the alien go boom aliens and I really
liked the Dave diversify the type of
aliens that they’ve introduced to their
Channel so maybe I could come up with my
own sort of different types of monsters
from my own world my own creations and
with your help create a foam monster
head that we could destroy
I’m also always interested in your ideas
and what I should make next if you want
to send me a drawing of your gadget or
maybe a monster that you thought up that
I could destroy and maybe you just want
to say hi and send me a letter and tell
me how I’m doing and maybe things you
like or don’t like about my channel and
if I receive enough mail I could have a
show devote it to my fans I think that’d
be really cool anyway that’s all for
today
