How to prepare asparagus – Jamie Oliver’s Home Cooking Skills

all right asparagus a lovely tasty green
vegetable that grows out of the ground
it’s a it grows all around the world in
this country its season is sort of
Easter until the summer
roughly round about them but you can get
it from Spain and from South America and
Africa and all kinds of other countries
at different times of the year but the
fresh asparagus is really really good
it’s very tasty and it’s very very easy
to prep I’m just gonna show you how to
do it
lettuce spears at the top is tenderest
tasty a little bit and as you go down
this fear it gets tougher and tougher
until you get to the end which is a bit
you don’t really want to meet it’s quite
woody and hardness and you have to chew
it a lot to eat it’s not very nice so to
prep it more you do let’s take the spear
hold hold it gently in one hand and snap
the bottom off and it always brings at
the right spot so it may not be the same
place on every spear so that one broke
in a slightly different place but it
always breaks then stalk it’s too tough
to eat like that really simple don’t
have a go
that’s it
simple these are the bits that you don’t
want these stocky bits here we normally
just throw them away you can if you want
use them to make soup but generally we
just throw them or throw them away and
things bits to the bits we want to keep
