the channeler the more formally named
channel tunnel canet england the rest of
europe more specifically the 31 mile
tunnel actually connects boats intent to
tokyo in northern france as early as
1801 a proposal was made to connect
england to the rest of europe however it
wasn’t completed until nineteen ninety
four when the channel officially opened
in may it actually consists of three
parallel tunnels two of which carry
trains north and south at speeds of more
than 100 miles per hour and the third
one is a service tunnel which allows
access for maintenance workers 24 miles
of the tunnel actually passed underneath
the english channel 150 feet below sea
bed
