The Boat Show – Buying Used Boats

so I’m with John Andrews is the owner of
boats are fun we’re going to talk about
a little bit today about if you’re
looking to buy a usable what should you
look for so what would you say what
would be your advice to someone who is
in that market to buy a useful what
should they be aware my my biggest piece
of advice would be to urge the buyer to
consult with a marine serving marine
surveyor is a professional who knows
about boats they research both they’ve
been to school to learn about how boats
are built and what kinds of problems
have happened to certain models over
certain years things like that and so I
would say that if you’re going to buy a
used boat hire a marine surveyor to
survey the boat for you and you want to
pay the surveyor as the potential buyer
of the boat because you want that
surveyor to work for you don’t negotiate
away the cost of the survey and try to
make the owner of the boat pay for it
because you really want that surveyor to
work for you you might see when you when
you see people looking at boats you
might see them tapping on it with their
hands or something well surveyors got a
phenolic hammer that makes a certain
sound but they also have a moisture
meter electronic meter that they’ll run
over the entire surface of the boat to
find out if there’s moisture inside that
you can’t see
and some of that damage can be pretty
bad the if the inside layers of
fiberglass separate that’s where you
really have problems and that’s what a
surveyor is really hired to find its
problems like that in others well thank
you very much miss Rogers for taking the
time thank you take care
