he was a winner of the 1986 Indy 500 and
three-time champ car champion I’m
Miranda light stone with watchmojo.com
and today we’re talking to Bobby Ray
Hall even a lot of you Indian f1 and
different types of racing do you regret
not doing any other type of racing like
rally or branching out into different
aspects of the racing world I drove one
NASCAR race once that was kind of enough
to convince me that I wanted to stay in
Indy cars I’m a road racer really by
education
I enjoyed the oval tracks but you enjoy
the road courses more for me and for
everybody who came up to Canada to race
form Atlantic we always we all wanted to
go to Formula One that was the goal and
some made it some didn’t some made it a
little bit like me I was successful in
endurance racing successful in Indy cars
successful sports cars
I really can’t ask for much more than
that and what’s your opinion on kind of
the way motorsport is going nowadays
there’s so much money in certain parts
of the sport that it really begins to
lose its I think connection with the
fans and I don’t care how big the TV
numbers are or what have you you have to
have fans because that’s your face you
know those are the people you depend on
and no I think Formula One it’s gotten
maybe a little bit better this year
though there’s been a little bit more
you know uncertainty to it you know for
years you knew who was going to win
before you even turn the TV on and that
isn’t you know that’s not very exciting
you know people want us they want they
want to be surprised
I like the idea this year was there’s no
refueling and said just becoming a
series of sprint races it becomes a real
race but it still isn’t to the point
that it’s a was in the in the 80s and
late eighties what-have-you when there
was one set of tires and one and a big
fuel a guy like Prost really excelled
because he was really smart and he
understood how far he could push the car
and still have a car he could race
compete with at the end of the race and
I don’t know if anybody would know how
to do that today what kind of advice can
you give a daily driver to improve the
driving skills stay off the cell phone
that be first thing cars are so much
better today but I think we rely on them
a little too much you know for safety
and we think that way that’s a be assert
has this or airbags and so I can’t get
hurt or I can’t you know the car is not
gonna slip and I said well it is you
know you’re going too fast you’re going
too fast
what law do you wish existed that didn’t
exist on the road today the speed limit
you would lower it I’d raise it – what
can we ask I would love to see no speed
limits on certain sections of the roads
you know yeah and of course people would
say well you know that’s fine if your
talent and you got talent or the right
car but if you don’t it’s dangerous and
maybe that’s that’s maybe that’s true
but if I had my perfect world I’d have
no speed limits
