Interview with Chris Broderick of Megadeth

hi I’m Glenn Mackenzie for watchmojo.com
and we’re gonna be interviewing Chris
Broderick from Megadeth so you’re
sitting at home you get the call Chris
it’s Megadeth and we need you right and
we need you on Gigantor hmm what goes
through your head of course you know and
it was almost that quick too because I
got a call from management almost
happened just like that they they’re
like well what would you think about
potentially joining Megadeth the house
course so it was like I met with Dave
and from there we just hit it off we
started working and that’s that’s what
it’s been since it’s just work and
getting on the road so how is it working
with Dave I mean there’s been some you
know in the past that there was like
rumors out there it could be a little
bit of a moody little Teslin I could see
that anybody that puts their ego above
everything else could clash
for me it was all about work ethic you
know what does he expect of me what does
he want and he’s very meticulous I mean
he’ll tily that and he has a very
defined idea of what he wants to see in
here and I can totally understand that
because it’s like the older I get the
more when i write a song I know exactly
what I want the drums to do I know
exactly what the base should play you
know and I don’t know if it’s good or
bad but it’s just what happens you just
get more precise at what you want so I
totally understand it how do you find
that your style is fitting in with
megadeth I think within the concept of
what I’m doing at this point in time is
it’s fitting and great because I’ve
always been in my own way meticulous
about wanting to play things exactly as
they are as they should be in this
context no improvisation what kind of
got you started in guitar well I mean it
was a number of things uh the first
thing I’ve got me started with just a
friend of mine that had started playing
and I always wanted to play his guitar
and he’d always get pissed off because
every time I went to his house he was
like no I don’t want to like add I’m
like come on that’s my guitar from there
it was just the various influences then
I picked up on the very first one was
Eddie Van Halen of course and then it
moved to inveigh very quickly and all of
the shrapnel guys you know from paul
gilbert to greg how to jason becker and
you know all those guys
you know a lot of my influence really
was much more instrumental that’s why I
spent a lot of my time practicing what
is on instrumental stuff you know
transcribing violin pieces and stuff
like that touring with megadeth how’s
this feel it now how is it that was it
different presentation is everything you
know the fact that I’m here right now
doing a video interview is an a
testament to that it’s just you know how
you present yourself how you come across
on stage it’s about having bravado and
just bigger
you
