founded in 2000 Moo Tech is
International Festival organization
dedicated to the promotion of electronic
music and the digital arts hi I’m Chris
with watchmojo.com and today we’re
learning about this festival’s past and
hopes to the future you take his bit my
baby although of course it’s a
collective effort from the beginning
when we did the first edition we were
contacted by about seven people from
seven cities in Europe to do the Mutai
event that really opened up a new space
for thinking about what we were doing
the first invitation that we accept them
came actually from the clip comedy aisle
festival in 2002 I guess it triggered
the first series of event I wanted to
like bridge Europe with North America
and North America with South America the
first model that I had in mind was to
have a new take in Montreal every year
and have a second event every year that
we alternate between Berlin and South
America the first event we did in South
America was in Chile because I had a
history with Chile for me it made more
sense we started implementing that model
of going down south but never really
made it to the doing the event in Europe
what happened is the second we started
doing something in Chile then the
Argentinian said well we want something
like that there’s more stuff happening
here you should consider us and the
Mexicans some people came up to us and
said we want to do something there so we
started actually getting a requests and
marks of interest from here and there
and direct connecting dots and working
with different local forces if you could
say so you can tell us what mutex
motivation is for selecting the artists
that play at the festival we’re always
looking for artists that perform live to
begin with artists that are pushing the
envelope somehow artists that want to
have the whole scene evolve in the name
new tech there is of course people think
there is a notion of
music and technology but for us what’s
really driving is an ocean of mutations
so for someone who’s never been at one
of these festivals what would or what
should they expect it’s a yearly buffet
offering a vast display possibilities
going from more experimental very
conceptual stuff sometimes that take
place in the seated audience at the
other end of the spectrum we have
beat-driven dance floor kind of programs
for a public that’s usually larger maybe
a bit younger the range of the festival
is pretty large well thank you so much
