EA Games – Corporate aggressiveness

Electronic Arts has been around since
1982 and since then they have made an
incredible library of titles one of the
first games I actually remember playing
from them was on the second Genesis and
if I’m not mistaken the name of the game
was sword of vengeance and what that was
was a sort of hacking / game that what
boasted some of the largest on-screen
characters that we saw during the 16-bit
days now they also made the Madden
series back then and a couple other
games back then and if there was one
consistent theme if you actually can
somehow get a hold of these roms or four
games I should say and go back and place
on these old classics you’ll notice a
sort of consistent theme with the old EA
stuff and it’s that the frame rates
tended to take hits in a lot of their
early games my thinking is because EA in
some ways is more ambitious than a lot
of developers who spend time focusing on
the technical aspect of things they sort
of had an end idea of what they wanted
the presentation to look like and would
sort of work backwards from there one of
the recent things that have gotten some
press lately in the news is that um
Electronic Arts is what seems to be in
the midst of attempting to have a
hostile takeover on Ubisoft now you
Vsauce president has actually come out
and made statements to the effect that
he’s not okay with this and sort of
sending out an appeal to the general
community to if not stop what’s going on
at least be aware of the implications of
what this company is doing this would be
another one of those examples of
Electronic Arts choosing the corporate
and and sort of tactical aggressive
stance over simply improving the quality
of their games in order to gain more
market share
