dear the hurt the broken the ones who
are constantly drenched in the gloomy
rain the ones who have selves doubt fill
their brain the ones who like themselves
for who they are the ones who have their
self esteem covered with scars dear the
eighty-five percent of our population I
understand that you just don’t like
yourself I understand that you suffer
from your low self esteem I understand
what you’re going through I understand
how you feel I understand you why
because I am one of you dear those who
don’t understand my mind has that voice
in the back of my head that makes me
doubt so many things about myself I
constantly compare myself to so many
people in this very school I constantly
fight this duel there are days where I
don’t feel like I belong here because I
don’t think I’m good enough my flower of
self happiness has wilted been stomped
on and has me attempting that grow it
with my watering can called my mind set
that’s filled to the brim with
negativity while others have just grown
gardens full of brightly colored
blossoms dear the negativity in my brain
I don’t understand why are you shoving
your opinion of me throughout my whole
brain you are not my brain you are doing
nothing but causing sadness and pain but
you say bad things about myself so much
that sometimes I think you are my brain
and that’s not good
see the problem is that you use insults
in an attempt to motivate myself you
only notice when something bad happens
but completely ignore the good but
motivation starts on positivity not
negativity I am a person with
capabilities that you hide with dirty
blankets that may seem to work to keep
out the cold will soon make me more sick
with self hate you
not finding a solution you’re making the
problem worse
so stop let me live my life dear my
friends you guys are like stars you glow
and illuminate the whole world and mean
so incredibly much to me yes sometimes I
felt that was only adding more darkness
that you were forced to illuminate but
I’m okay because whenever a star started
fall to fall out of the sky due to a bad
day or something just just didn’t go
their way I was always here and miring
the stars from the grass covered ground
and whenever I could I opened my hands
to catch that star in which negativity
get drowned it’s in my best to put that
star back up in the sky so they can once
again brighten up the world from above
so high I haven’t fully learned how to
help myself but I’m learning how to glow
by collecting a bit of your starters day
by day no matter what the negativity my
head may say and you were always there
for me when skies were dark and made me
look up and told me that there’s still
beauty in this world but there is still
light that there’s still hope and that
everyone is unique beautiful and has a
purpose in connecting the constellation
of the world
dear Dodie Clark Wow you go on tour
travel right beautiful song sing and
wrote a book but you are still going you
suffer from mental health issues and
struggle with your brain but you are
still going I have learned from you that
yes sometimes I get that I don’t get it
but the world and loved ones will show
me that I won’t regret it because there
will be a day where I can say I’m okay
and mean it you have taught me that
there’s a positive behind a negative
that the small seeds can still grow
beautiful flowers that there are a good
days but there are also bad days and
that when your brain decides to plant
roots in the dirty soil you can still
grow in a beanstalk and reach the clouds
and inspire other to stand tall with you
and that everything will be okay you
have given me the give
of hope in a small pouch bag with
freckles star-shaped confetti and the
scent of candles and the reminded me
that the negativity in my head does not
define who I am you have given me the
ticket to travel to a faraway land and
the ability to walk to a beach with sand
between my toes as the ocean breeze
dances through the air and the ability
and learn to appreciate the small things
and learn to appreciate me you are still
growing and going and helping others do
the same you are one of my role models
dear those who compare themselves to
other people it’s not going to work
trust me
look you’re the attacker and the attack
the predator and the prey don’t listen
to what the negative in your head will
say you are not defined by that you can
do so many things that you don’t know
you’re capable of fill yourself with
self-love instead of filling your
watering can with negativity and
drenching your flower of self happiness
because newsflash it won’t grow
do not use negativity for motivation by
doing that you’re welcoming the fiery
torch that you put against your side and
putting your hand over the wound and
saying it’s fine but it’s not fine
you’re a tearing pages from the prayer
of the book of the pew the person that
you have become and saying it’s fine but
it’s not fine you are knocking yourself
down again again and saying it’s fine
but it’s not fine
you are beautiful you are amazing and
you are important you are you and being
you is perfect enough dear those with
low self-esteem listen I understand that
you just don’t like yourself but you’re
a stunning work of art take a look at
yourself and think about what you have
done regardless of how you think of
yourself you’re still you you’re still
here
you’re still painting on the canvas you
call your life no matter how many times
you compare it you’re still dancing that
dance you call your life story no matter
how many times you fall down you’re
still taking pictures of your life and
putting in a photo album called your
memories no matter how many times you
don’t like the perspective you took it
from
you’re still going appreciate yourself
for that and do not call yourself weak
you are so incredibly strong you’re
living a battle that nobody knows about
and as you fight you’re being toppled
with struggles things to do and many
more but you are still able to stretch
your wings and soar and when you’re at
the bottom and say this is it
and you can no longer help yourself and
just want to quit help others who need
your help help the stars in the sky be
there for them and one day you’ll be
able to help and be there for yourself
you are much more than you think because
you are you don’t ever forget that thank
you [Applause]
