for example kendall jenner
gigi hadid varnel Watson or maybe two
other people in your officer workspace
or school many teens and preteens do
this constantly especially girls
comparing their looks abilities social
stance ethnicity the list goes on
telling themselves a banner good enough
because they can’t obtain that body
shape their hair color and the things
they’re born with according to mental
and physical health or 30 million in
people of all ages and genders suffer
from eating disorders in the US alone
every 62 minutes a person dies from the
eating disorder 9 percent of American
women have anorexia 1.5 percent of
American women suffer from bulimia
nervosa in their lifetime 2.8 percent of
American adults suffer from binge eating
disorder their lifetime I should know I
had an eating disorder it all started
last summer I found myself my 13 year
old self not looking like the girls the
magazines are on TV thinking why am I so
flawed so I hated myself and asked
myself why I look the way I did well I
just couldn’t look like the others
what’s wrong with me to the point where
I just wouldn’t eat I would starve
myself trying to get someone else’s body
when I knew I was hungry or shouldn’t
eat I do
I went until I saw progress I was pretty
much always dehydrated and had bloody
noses due to low of iron my family
noticed my parents were worried I tried
drinking apple cider vinegar no carb
diets fasting all sorts of crazy diets
for what because I want to look like
someone that wasn’t the person I saw in
the mirror many girls find it hard to
love themselves physically which leads
to thoughts mentally in which case can
we do
and even suicide there are people who
weigh themselves on a scale every day
watching that number hoping and praying
that that number will go down there are
girls who take pride in being hungry and
think that means progress but the thing
that most people don’t understand is is
that the photos magazines and social
media show are not what the models
really look like a number on the scale
and the calories you take don’t define
who you are
people look at stretch smart scars moles
and think that they are normal because
of them young girls look at Instagram
and see what other girls are posting
which is usually the best Photoshop
version of themselves and using the
photo to point every flaw they have
other people in toxic situations will
turn to anorexia as a way to control
something for some and is it just about
being thin people will feel like it is
the only thing they can control in their
lives so they will restrict food count
calories and exercise excessively social
media isn’t the only place where girls
find they need to change something about
themselves
Blaine also greatly affects kids
according to stopbullying.gov 28 percent
of kids grades 6 to 12 have experienced
bullying 70 point six percent of kids
have seen bullying happening in their
schools kids will get boy being caught
fat ugly discussing four things they
can’t control some kids will do anything
to fit in which can lead to anorexia
bullying also leads to a lot of suicides
and depression disorders for one I felt
disgusted every time I looked in a
mirror you should never put yourself in
that position and when I actually
started to feel better about myself
certain people at school kept beating me
down back into that am I really that
ugly phase and second questioning
everything I told myself had build up I
was a new student at sixth grade and I
was going for not being popular enough
to hang out with some of my friends this
person would say bad things about me
that were not true they would constantly
exclude me and talk behind my back why I
was lucky enough to not care what they
said about me I thought to myself it
doesn’t matter what she said about me
because the way that they viewed me
wasn’t how I viewed myself there going
to be people in your life that are going
to make you feel worthless but the one
person that can’t say that is you you
decide don’t let anyone else decided how
you look and feel about yourself your
opinion and how you look at yourself is
either going to build you up or break
you down in the beginning we mentioned
celebrities Gigi Hadid Kendall Jenner
and Emma Watson and how to compare
ourselves to these people their bodies
and looks the pictures our magazines
take hours to photograph because that’s
their job behind the camera there are
dozens of other people trying to make
the model look at their best feelings
following the models hair makeup artist
touching up every take hairstyles making
sure that hair lays right after all of
that they’re still editing that goes
into those photos they Photoshop the
flaws out when the flaws are things that
are normal and supposed to happen those
photos that people spend hours on are
what young girls are comparing
themselves to today because while they
take hours to take one photo and we take
that doesn’t seem like a fair comparison
and have long lasting damage to your
girls self-esteem even celebrities
photos to take hours to take get even
more perfected and we see what we see
isn’t even the original photo of the
front of the person since modeling it’s
their profession they do what everyone
else does for their job they have to
prepare outside of work working out
eating healthy going to practice shoots
even though it sounds like a glamorous
lifestyle one who was into the industry
has to be committed to their job they
just can’t take out the phone and take a
selfie like we do now even to mention
how much the beedi cost the makeup the
hair the photo shoots just to take a
natural picture and why that’s so bad
they go to extreme measures it’s not
worth it people are people we’re all
trying to make it through this game
called life and adding hatred to
yourself is just an unnecessary thing to
add on and I couldn’t say it enough
because every single person is so
beautiful and incredible they just need
to see it for themselves overcoming
depression eating disorders extreme
anxiety is hard I’m not even gonna say
it’s easy cuz it’s not and nevertheless
people can make a huge impact my friends
helped me so so much but who you really
need to listen to is you you will make
the biggest impact on how you look at
yourself I was depressed and I’d even
want to be here anymore thinking that I
would be happier and everyone else would
be too if I was gone I had anxiety on
top of all that and everyone to go to
talk to professional because I never
thought that they could understand what
was going on in my brain all this to
some Alyssa’s didn’t do the same thing
she wasn’t eating a lot sorry
and I had to think about myself for a
moment cuz I was doing the same thing in
I automatically started eating more and
getting better
and in my mind she didn’t she saved me
you start to wonder why you did or
wanted to look like that person you need
to love yourself
Veronica’s one of the first people I
really felt comfortable to tell
and my friend Brinley who moved to
Tennessee a couple months ago once again
I felt like everything was being ripped
out of me although another thing that
surprisingly helped me was music the
best type of music are the songs in on
the radio and when my thoughts were what
was killing me I listen to me that can
help me drown out the world and it was
like I wasn’t even there anymore one of
the worst things that you could do is
push people away which I did a lot last
year in the summer we had a Christmas
party with some of our friends we went
ice skating and Amy and I talked the
whole time we talked about everything
going on in our lives and just our
thoughts what feelings towards things
there we realized we’ve had a lot of the
same same opinions and were generally
the same person that night is what she
told me and since then that has always
been on my mind on what I should do
should I say something to try and help
I just didn’t know so I tried to be
there in any way I could without being
pushy or trying to bring it up a month
or so later we kind of sleep over and
interrupt 3:00 in the morning we did the
same thing we talked the same way for an
hour I realize that sometimes the best
way to be there for someone isn’t always
bringing up and pushing them into
talking about it but to be someone that
will listen it really helped that we
felt the same way about almost
everything they’re going there are
things that may help one person that
doesn’t help another but either way that
person needs help if you know someone or
you have a problem that you need help
for you can call one eight six six five
four seven zero eight two four help is
one call away one sent by gigi hadid one
of the celebrities
but before everyone has a different body
shape so you kind of have to figure out
not only what works best for your body
type but what also makes you feel
confident even if everyone thinks you
look good in a bikini and you don’t feel
good in it you’re not going to be at the
best if you feel great in a bikini you
can always work it thank you
