It is said to be in a world of technology
We still rely on sticky notes
Even with mobile phones, tablets, and wearable devices
We are still scrambling to write our thoughts
And hang them everywhere around offices, whiteboards
And sometimes on the same devices
Which was initially designed for replacement
While I was getting ready for this talk
I was playing my recorded notes during the morning sport
Files are everywhere around my laptop, text messages, photos, special notes, and many more
Every day, this tangle of information becomes larger.
A new stream of beliefs will be created after another of the ideas
Which are administered orthogonal to each other
Like a tree that has been growing new branches at strange angles.
Human creativity is a beautiful kind of chaos.
We must support him even if he is anarchist.
However, every device we use
He can only show us that we are rigid, part of his rectangular surface.
It does not take a world of nerves
In order to realize that this is not the way that man evolved to think.
Instead, imagine a scientist
Where technology is expected to fit
Our way of nature is to act and think.
in this world,
We can organize our ideas in a three-dimensional,
We are surrounded by the content we need for our tasks
And allow us to access them directly
Without a clumsy medium such as a keyboard or screen.
This will take us away from our offices and finally raise our eyes on computer monitors.
Our relationship with information
Have become a natural part of our concrete lives
Rather than separation from them
Instead of putting ourselves in a digital world,
We can bring its best characteristics to the real world in which we actually live.
This will be more than just another hoot.
Our thinking moved from binary to three-dimensional.
In fact, this transition was a unique innovation
At the heart of the period now known as the Renaissance
Since the first conceptual models of man,
Until the Middle Ages,
Art was confined to a superficial and primary world.
Well, these changes were in Florence in the fifteenth century
When architect Filippo Brunelleschi opened the third dimension in the painting
That he was the first to use the longitudinal perspective.
With Brunelleschi’s progress,
The painted symbols began to feel like less embezzlement than our world
And more of it as an extension of it.
This shift from surface to third dimension
It was more than just an upgrade of artists’ skills.
It was a revolution in human creativity
Which has stretched beyond the drawing for centuries.
For example, Galileo relied on his imaginative perspective
To discover the properties of the moon observed through the telescope,
Providing the main spark that ignited the Copernican revolution.
Well, let me argue in this matter, today’s computers have their own renaissance
For years, I came to my laboratory in Florence Serra across the Cathedral of Florence
The Pappesiri, Piazza delasiguria and the Via Arno
Every morning I walk by the works of these great artists
Who opened the third dimension of the world in the Renaissance
But in the last three years
I was fascinated by the new Floreansa, the Silicon Valley
Contributing to a new journey to the third dimension
Through a new technology called “enhanced reality”
In fact the enhanced UI will no longer be a flat screen
But the stereoscopic images surrounding us
We can touch it with our hands
As we can join them with real objects and access to countless information,
Or we can create new stereoscopic images rather than sticky notes
We test our ideas directly and in a blink
How can this fit into reality and with our partners?
But wait a moment,
And what entered neuroscience all this?
Well, with the enhanced reality we can move computers from our offices or palm
To our eyes, our senses, our brains
Our computers will no longer be a barrier in our space
But will create the space in which we live and work.
Therefore, it has to fit our brains in an ideal way.
So, let me put some examples of how I and my team are
We use neuroscience to accomplish this task.
We all receive many notices, do not we?
Well in fact enhanced, notices will not only be distracted to attention
But it can be dangerous
Here lies the help of neuroscience attention
Our brains have communication networks that ensure our constant focus on our tasks
These are the areas highlighted in blue in this drawing.
Suddenly, unexpected stimuli appear,
The shaded network is dominated by yellow
Our focus on the mission is cut to focus on this new event.
Except that in our contemporary life, distracted stimuli of attention
A tiger will not attack us in the forest
But notices on black Friday discounts can be
The observation comes with another basic area
That the mind analyzes one-third of the visual information
Today, however, computers use half of this capability.
As you can see, the sense of sight has two distinct paths
The first is a ventral route
It responds to “what” questions by identifying familiar objects
Such as faces, words, or things like this chair.
But equally important is the dorsal path
Which responds to the questions of “where” and “how”
If the abdominal track tells us, what are we looking for
The dorsal path helps us to understand
The biggest goal of things is how you can fit them
The dorsal path is very vulnerable to movement
And carefully monitors the surrounding tracks
So it plays a vital role in our activities,
From intercepting volleyball to subtle movements of the artist
This is why today’s computers are frustrating to us easily.
They are mainly designed for the abdominal passage only.
Instead, the enhanced reality uses space and depth
In order to coordinate information in a natural form
It invests both stages and puts our perceptions in use
To make it more practical,
Check out this photo of my friend Jerry Grant
Head of Brain Surgery at Stanford Children’s Hospital
It shows only 6 out of 12 dispensing devices displayed in the operating room
You can agree with me and with him
That keeps visual communication on the brain that works on it
Sometimes the difference between life and death can be made
Instead, these surgeons live in a permanent state of
Practice “Correspondence During Leadership”
They risk making new mistakes with each distraction
Regardless of the importance of this information that reaches them from these devices
How wonderful it would be if you could get rid of those screens
And arranged around the patient’s body
Moreover, a three-dimensional scan is directly attached to the patient’s head
Provides access to any level of depth within the image
To target devices without errors
This will take advantage of the subconscious attention system
The dorsal system of the sense of emptiness is perfect
But the ability to conduct a three-dimensional survey directly on the patient’s head
Deeper than we imagine
In fact, just as the mind prefers to think out of space.
Instead of two dimensions
Our instincts force us to reach our work
Rather than being controlled remotely
Our brains understand things that are within reach
Much better than those beyond
They have certain mechanisms to find a relationship between the things we see
With our actions
This is obviously another dimension to our brains
That today’s technology can not precisely absorb it
But the brain has other surprises
Who heard about the optic nerve cells?
Well, when I fed my children – they were there – for more than three years ago
I could not help myself from opening my mouth like they did
You know that.
These are the neurons that stimulate while we say doing activities ourselves
Or while we see someone doing the same thing.
As if our brains evolved to take into account cooperation
Model learning whenever possible
Flat panel monitors block the power of communication between us
While enhanced reality retrieves them
Jerry’s team of surgeons can communicate with their hands and tools
Before communicating
These were just a glimpse of the research
Which my team and I have been working on for the last three years
Help human neuroscience the future of computing
Imagine we are years from now
We wear glasses where there is no difference from what I wear now, just the smartest.
Put your hand in front of you, and imagine you are carrying a leaf of trees
Then, imagine a stereoscopic picture of the paper
To show her secrets down to the cellular level
Then you can use your hand to move the water inside the veins of the paper
The minerals that feed plants and promote photosynthesis appear
You can do it with your friends or children
It reminds me of this image of my father reading to my daughter, several years ago
Technology has changed, but the idea has not changed.
People communicate in honest ways, creatively and in personal ways,
By understanding how our brains work,
We can create computers capable of delivering these experiences,
Expanding our cognitive abilities, rather than trying to replace them.
Our creativity will rise to the sky
Without compromises and without borders.
All in all, this will be the era of a new renaissance.
Thank you so much.
