I need your attention, my story is very important.
When I was twenty,
I was a young student. I do not have much money.
I had many academic difficulties.
She graduated after a lot of difficulties.
And why?
Because I was hungry, I was ashamed to say so.
I was ashamed to say so
Because it is hard to suffer from hunger.
It is something that is not easily said
Because it is a shame to say that we are hungry,
People can not understand that.
This affects our study, our work and our daily lives.
In fact, when I decided
To engage in the fight against food waste,
This is because I wanted
To attack and defeat hunger.
We realize that every shop
Every night, he throws more than 50 kg of consumed food
In garbage cans.
This represents, almost
1,500 euros, 1,600 dollars.
About 16,000 euros a week.
The equivalent of more than 150,000, or 180,000 euros per year.
In light of this,
We have incredible variation!
There are the poor,
There is consumer food thrown into trash cans every night.
We have to combine these two deviations.
We have absolute power
Which we need to pass this law in France,
Because the shops are serving food every night.
You get value-added returns, taxes.
They pay taxes.
Yet they are winning from this issue,
Whether they are selling unsold food or not,
Different pressure groups such as pesticides,
Pesticides that are in fast food, lead to,
Malnutrition, obesity, cancer,
Heart disease.
On the other hand, the losers are rural people, farmers,
Middle class,
This great middle class, also has problems:
One in six Americans is starving.
35 million tons of food consumed
Thrown into the garbage cans.
In Hollywood Street,
You have the same homeless as in France.
I have not come here to tell you what you should do.
I came here to tell you that America, you need your help now.
With this law, we need help
United States of America.
Why?
Because 1.3 billion of food
Throw away all the time, every year.
This represents about a third of the food produced around the world.
One of three foods thrown in garbage cans
While at the same time,
100 million people are malnourished.
More than 40 million Americans
Suffering from malnutrition.
More than a billion people are hungry.
France voted on February 3, 2016.
I would like to thank the French MP, Frederick LeBeffre.
He is a member of the National Assembly,
Thanks to him. Thank you, Frederick!
(clap)
In France, we passed the law.
Thanks to this law, more than 3,000 associations
I received the food not sold,
And more than 10 million meals distributed to the poor.
You can do the same.
We need you to fight.
Again, we have to fight against food waste
In order to fight and defeat hunger.
Thank you so much.
I’m sorry that I spoke in French,
But I hope you understand my message.
Thank you so much! (clap)
