the moment that I picked up a camera
there was never I never looked back I
never had another hobby I never had
another thought I became completely
obsessed with photography it’s
completely giving up everything else the
obsession is is the way that you get
really good stuff you you you keep
focused and that focus is what allows
you to do this stuff part of the real
process has always been for me is to is
to think that it’s not there yet the
moment you think you’ve got it you
you’re dead I think I mean it’s like
well just go ahead put the dirt on me
the difference in a great picture in a
good picture got to be some bit of
serendipity for me in other words all
the elements are there that I’m seeing
and then the accident come see anything
you like
Jane bending her head down the elephant
charging and throwing water but glinting
inside the tail comes up a certain way
it’s the stuff that’s totally out of my
control as soon as I was with those
animals I realized I was home in a way
and I knew I could be a voice for things
that can’t talk the ultimate success is
these national parks because that’s land
that’s Bank that’s dirt it thinks the
elephants can live there chimps can live
there it’s not a fantasy it’s not a
fundraising campaign we got those land
set aside before they were logged
because of the pictures having a picture
that lives beyond use is kind of what
it’s all about I want people to remember
the pictures not my name I look like I
wanted to flash on those images and get
a feeling about good nature deserves
respect all the social issues we have
can be traced right back to the planet
we can educate people through
photography that’s the one that drives
me photography can change the world you
know the world needs changing
you
