Matthew Perry | The ’90s: Interview Outtakes

1994 I was 24 years old
and I could tell in the first
run-through that this was gonna be
something special it was a role that I
really just sort of could shake hands
with off the page kind of thing it
really just was me it seemed like she
was a very sarcastic and uncomfortable
guy who was not a bad-looking guy but
didn’t do very well with women and
needed to fill silences with the joke
and I could relate to all of those
things what could it be any hotter in
here you know that was the main one that
people sort of picked up on which was
really just me imitating my friends from
Canada who should sue me I think because
it’s the way they spoke and I just took
it and spoke that way on TV and now I
have my own pool I could swim in it the
show really took off in between the
first and second year so it was summer I
realized that was the time I realized oh
I’m not a person that can just walk
around anymore and David Schwimmer and I
were walking through Manhattan and a
woman just came up to David just handed
him her baby
this one here and luckily David liked
when his fork down there was no injuries
but we realized oh yeah life is
completely changing I was shopping at
grocery store and someone came in or the
video camera videotaped everything I was
buying I ended up using that as an
excuse to not go shopping for the next
20 years
