hey everyone today I’m going to be
showing you how to make a quick and
simple wind resistant lighter attachment
so basically for this project you will
need a lighter these velcro straps which
you can find at a hardware store one of
these stain droppers not recommend
getting it in a six pack I got these on
Amazon they’re by Kellys crafts and the
reason you want to get a couple of them
is because not all the tips are the same
size some of them are more narrow and
this one was the larger side of the
package which is good for these Zippo
wicks which are pretty thick but that’s
going to give you the wind resistant
portion also you will need some of these
erasers and this is the type of
container that they come in they’re
pretty small compared to some of the
other racers that you find so I would
recommend getting these exact kind and
what you want to do to make your stopper
first you’re going to remove this that
just comes right off like that this is
going to be your container that holds
your fluid and then you want to make one
of these it’s basically what I did is
took one of these t pins they come in
these hundred pack I got these from
office supply store and you want to take
one of them and poke it through the
eraser and then bend it so there’s a
little hook and that allows you whenever
you pull out the eraser to refill you
have that little hook there that’s going
to keep it from sliding out and getting
stuck inside of the dropper so it just
sort of goes like this you might have
some trouble you might need to adjust it
some different ways but that’s basically
the gist of it and when you pull it out
that’s going to slide a little hook and
allows you to pull it out nice and easy
so also you may want some of this brass
and this is I believe 5/16 and if you
don’t have that you can probably
experiment with some different size pen
tubes that would fit over top of this
and you just have to see you could even
wrap it in duct tape just something to
insulate it so that in case this falls
doesn’t crack because these are pretty
fragile but I had some of this and you
can see slides over very nicely and acts
like a little case to protect and then
also a nice little feature I added I cut
down the middle using a dremel that’s
sort of acts like a meter so you can see
how much fuel you have left and I’m just
using regular lighter fluid for this and
basically you just go like this and you
have a little standalone flame and this
little t pin acts as a stand and if you
put that in like that it really doesn’t
make a difference whether it’s which way
it’s folder you can see it’s pretty
close to the border of this little lip
here but I just keep mine like that and
then you put your velcro on I like to
have the velcro because I actually put a
couple of these on my wrist you can see
sits on there nice and there’s no
problems so if you’re lighting fireworks
and you want to make sure that you don’t
lose this in the dark you can just put
it right on there and it’s not going to
come off and then whenever you need it
it’s good to go and you can see the
comparison to a regular lighter
I mean how annoying is that when you’re
trying to light a firework or a fire or
whatever and it’s just constantly going
out whereas if I’m trying to do it with
this it’s very simple because you have
the fuel source and the Zipit wick so
it’s pretty cool and also I like that it
can stand up straight so it acts like a
little candle for whenever you’re
working you both hands-free for like a
light source and it’s pretty simple here
I’ll show you a quick demo I actually
was able to light this on my wrist right
away you can see it’s pretty windy right
now and with comparison you do have the
wind and this is constantly going out so
you definitely have a benefit of having
this I wouldn’t keep it on your wrist I
was just doing this for demonstration
purposes because I only have two hands
and I just light off this firework
so when you’re done you just put right
here and it’s not coming off because you
have the velcro so not it’s a nice
little package and it looks pretty cool
