Using a food processor – Jamie Oliver’s Home Cooking Skills

right we’re going to demonstrate how to
use a food processor and to do that
we’re going to use it to make bread
crumbs so bread crumbs what you need to
make good bread crumbs is a stale loaf
of bread and I find one of these rarely
debate ciabatta so you get in
supermarkets absolutely perfect for the
job because they were baked so long ago
they’re really nice and stale when they
come back to life when you put them in
the oven like they say on pack but if
you don’t do that and you just take a
strainer pack it’s really nice and dense
and stay out so fantastic bread crumbs
right here’s our food processor
nice big sturdy machine it’s got a lid
on the top that screws off it’s going to
blade inside that wears around and cuts
whatever is in the bowl but steps on
like that and this top locks in place
here like that when you’re ready to use
it so what we need to do Kristina steer
the brain up into bits reasonable sized
bits to go in that bowl would be chopped
you can if you want to take the crusts
off all depends how fussy you want to be
about your bread crumbs probably about
half of that will do in there I think we
don’t want to overfill the bowl maybe
not a little bit fantastic now the top
goes on and machine won’t work until you
click this into place there’s three
buttons on the food processor there’s an
on button and off button that switches
the cutter off and on and there’s a
pulse button that will only have the
blade on as long as you keep the button
held in so you can go and the nice thing
about that is you’re completely in
control with of just doing it very very
little if you want to okay so for this I
think we should switch it on and leave
it because it might take a while to
grind or scrum
good idea like you’re doing keep your
handle with the top otherwise sometimes
bits of prep I wrote how fine is that
are you happy with that looks good to me
super
now you can take that blade out and
shake it gently and then we need to get
every last crumb okay put that back in
the next thing we’ll do is some almonds
so Engel the almonds normally in between
pulsing things and a food processor you
would wash the bowl out but bread crumbs
are quite a flavorless thing so it
doesn’t really matter if you were doing
something like garlic or pesto you want
to give it a really good clean every
time you use it so that so that their
flavors don’t hang over into the next
dish okay so on goes the lid and I think
we’ll do this time Kristina eyes I don’t
want them to fine so I just want a very
rough chop we’re going to use the pulse
button just one one or two more lovely
okay
got some finding some course in there
and that’s just what I’m looking for
great lovely perfect and that’s how to
use a food processor
