Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution update, 14/05/10

following people is the American food
revolution update this week has been a
really busy week Michelle Obama has
released her kind of attack plan for the
obesity strategy and it kind of runs in
tandem with a whole bunch of other stuff
that’s happening but basically what good
is from a government level we’ve got the
nutritional standards being looked at
the food pyramid being look fat
certainly more focus on activity and
physical education you don’t have to be
a chef but basic cooking is still as
important this week as it was a month
ago and in the food revolution so for
that we need you we’ve got to do our bit
to support Michelle let me tell you some
of the really exciting things going on
in America some of them are sweet and
profound some of them are just down call
let’s start off with the kids in santa
cruz at these are young kids they’re
cooking their own lunch look at the
story below we’ve got a little video in
it it’s brilliant and epic and if every
school could do this it would it really
would change the world Chicago kids
teenagers have stood up filmed by the
local news to basically say how bad the
school food was how they want to get the
junk out fresh food in Rick from
Illinois we love him he’s created this
game called taste buds he filled it up
with vegetables and fruits goes and has
a short bit of fun with the kids that
gets him to learn what their basic
fruits and veggies and stuff like that
is huntington west virginia in my
hometown in America where we did the
food revolution a little update well
with nearly finished out the rollout
fresh food in all of the schools this is
very very exciting thank you to all the
lunch cooks you’re doing an amazing job
the Huntington’s kitchen that we built
for them is still running it’s going
from strength to strength it’s so busy
that they’re doing more or less ins and
open down more classes which is great
and also the local community have come
together and put a fresh food market
once a week outside the kitchen recipe
of the week this week is one cup
pancakes send your pictures in for your
pancakes to the facebook site because
the facebook site is gone suckers got so
busy and everyone sending pictures in we
love it and please please keep the
support up for the food revolution we
need more signatures on the petition you
have already get your friends to do it
because we want to get to a million but
it is working and I’m very proud to say
that it’s starting to make a difference
already if you look at the stories below
and just read some of them this is what
it’s all about it’s about creating new
awareness the one thing time time again
that makes tangible real difference is
food education and knowing how it will
change your life cheers over an hour
