Jamie Oliver on microwaves – 30-Minute Meals

microwaves okay you haven’t heard me
talk about these before but 86% of
people have got a microwave in the UK
and it’s probably the same in most other
countries as well I’ve never really used
them because I always associated them
with reheating junk or prepaid meals
just like the freezer but no microwave
and the freezer brilliant technology use
it to your advantage so what I mean by
that is let’s get this little baby and
use it for doing wholesome lovely things
so whether it’s a jacket potato about 11
or 12 minutes sweet potato you can get
cooked as well little Jersey Royals you
can cook in like four or five minutes
and then finish them in here under the
grill olive oil rosemary so get them
crispy but you can rush those things
along for these quick meals that we’re
after also they’re brilliant with sponge
dessert sponge pudding sticky toffee
pudding you know all sorts of different
sort of desserts you can do in here rice
puddings and also they are classic Mayo
in a bit of butter and softening some
butter ice cream really useful and even
fish is good technology for cooking fish
it’s almost like steaming it a gentle
gentle kind of heat so whatever it
you’re doing get in here give it a nice
bit of time if it’s a jacket potato you
know sort of 10 to 12 minutes ready done
