How to prepare figs – Jamie Oliver’s Home Cooking Skills


so fix we’re going to prepare them and
we’re just going to prepare them to eat
and we’re going to serve them with some
mozzarella there’s a little treat for
ourselves
and they’re really delicious on their
own so what we need to do is prep them
in a way that shows us what’s inside
which is delicious and gooey and looks
beautiful so you want nice soft figs so
Roy will you give us all a few figs each
and they’re nice and soft
thank you so what you want to do is seat
your fig on its bum nice not safe on the
board
your little paring knife you’re going to
do a crisscross so you go sort of almost
down to the bottom but leave like a
centimeter three-quarters of the way
down put your knives down you want to
squeeze all the loveliness that’s inside
out each of these quarters you put a
thumb and a finger on each and that’s it
so when it’s opened up you can see the
beautiful insides and it looks like a
flower you’re done beautiful
then we’re just going to finish it off

I won’t eat to tear this into pieces
tear it in half and that feel good and
then into smaller pieces because we’ll
take a little bit mozzarella
we’ll put it in a fig and then we can
eat them or you can do salt and pepper
just tear it up and then put it back on
the board
on the board Roy give us a sprinkle of
salt and pepper over everything that’s
it you don’t want to tear it up too much
nice and bits a little bit of salt do it
from quite high up because then the salt
Falls nice and evenly over everything
little bit of olive oil you go and
that’s it beautifully prepared figs that
we can over the bit of mozzarella
