Working in the Gaming Industry – Character Texture Artist

hello this is Christmas watchmojo.com
just a short while ago I had the
pleasure of interviewing devi jado he’s
one of the character artist for Ubisoft
and he had a lot of really interesting
things to say about what this cool job
entails what was your background how did
you find yourself working with Ubisoft
and doing these great projects first of
all I always been an artist really young
I was was trying to do a lot of
paintings I’ve been doing a lot of
drawings at some point I just thought I
can’t do anything in my life except
doing what I like to do I’m just gonna
invest all all myself in trying to make
it really in the video game industry or
cinema or I think the people were
successful people who actually learn by
themselves you know very versatile they
really know what they want if I see the
things I’ve been doing in the past it’s
pretty bad how I managed to to keep with
it you know to really just continue I
don’t know what are some things you have
to contend with in a day let’s say I’m
starting on a new character you start by
getting the concept and you’re trying to
see what you can make out of it then
there’s a lot of searching but for
references because you can get a concept
but you’ll get like a I don’t know let’s
say for Assassin’s Creed a piece of
armor I mean it doesn’t really exist and
if it existed you don’t have access to
it so you’re trying to find that people
have been making you know recreating
pieces of armors at the time you’re just
trying to find what was used at the time
kind of fabric they use what was
invented what was invented which is
really important especially if you’re
not doing a fantasy game and Prince of
Persia was fantasy so it was inspired by
Persia but really we just changed a lot
of things but it was okay Assassin’s
Creed is pretty close to history
