we’re in a bookstore were surrounded by
books that’s pretty obvious but there’s
more here than meets the eye once a week
this bookstore is transformed into a
theater venue hi I’m Christina
watchmojo.com and we’re going to be
talking to members of gleam theater to
talk about this unique bookstore theater
concept can you walk us through the
process of turning this bookstore into a
theater venue yeah absolutely there are
a lot of books here and we have to do is
clear them all out pack the books into
boxes move these tables out of the way
and right about where we’re standing is
where we have the tech table set up and
how does it feel to perform in such a
small venue constituents ideas has been
for it to be film alike in that my new
movements and facial features and so on
are visible so it means that it’s a
little bit more subtle than most
theatrical shows Constantine sokoloff
who is your husband is the director and
this is a small space but he has jogging
scenes fight scenes dance scene where
does he get the creative notion that he
can have all this stuff going on in such
a small space constantly circle of
doesn’t care about space doesn’t care of
anything that it’s in the reality he
cares only about the pictures the
motivation the characters doesn’t matter
what space you are with him he’ll bring
you in a fairy tale it’s a very small
space how many people how many audience
members can you actually fit in the
original idea is to fit 21 if the people
are not too big we can fit more can you
tell us some of the challenges of
performing in such a small space what I
liked most is that the audience is so
close to us that we feed off them the
challenges of the small space is not
really a thing for me no sound really
challenged more like an advantage I
would say and what do you prefer a large
audience in the large venue or a small
audience in a small venue this is very
interesting and of course the big stage
is interesting too because it’s very
lucrative
but of course the experience itself is
really nice and it’s very different it’s
not something you can get on the big
stage all right well thanks so much for
spending time with us today to tell us
about your work
