What is an Equinox?

hi I’m Veronica the watchmojo.com and
today you’ll join us as we begin to
discover the mysteries of the sky with
Louis Bernstein starting with the
equinox well the equinoxes are two days
of the year which are the first day of
spring and the first day of fall the
actual date varies but usually around
March 21st and then September 21st those
are the two days of the year when the
Sun rises you east and sets you west
they’re significant because they mark
really the end of winter the beginning
of spring and then the end of summer and
the beginning of fall long ago pagan
religions view those days as very very
important because after a long cold
winter was really significant that
nature was being reborn and spring that
began once again what’s the significance
of the name equinox it means equal night
in the summer the days are long and the
nights are short we get up to 15 hours
of daylight and nine hours of night on
the equinoxes it’s even it’s twelve and
twelve
