Top 10 Video Game Teaser Trailers

Chuchu mother papa all aboard the hype
train welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’ll be counting down our picks for the
top 10 video game teaser trailers oh
that’s bad pass for this list we ranked
our favorite teaser trailers for games
regardless of how good the games
actually ended up being so just to be
clear teaser trailers are promos
released by the developer long before
the game comes out sometimes it’s fully
CGI other times it just shows a tiny
snippet of what to expect in the
gameplay let’s look at some of the
challenges you’ll face number 10
Mirror’s Edge
dice plays together an amazing
collection of action from the title
itself to showcase their unique parkour
platformer through the first-person
perspective you get to watch
protagonists faith run jump and fight
her way around the city rooftops in the
game setting the trailer is made all the
more beautiful by the soundtrack that we
only got a small taste of number 9 The
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
as much as we loved the Wind Waker it
wasn’t exactly the darker and more adult
Zelda that fans were hoping to see on
the Gamecube at the time so when this
trailer was first unveiled at e3 2004
showing off Lincoln combat on horseback
along with shots that demonstrated
twilight’s landscape well see for
yourself oh yeah and what better way to
top off the reveal then with Miyamoto
wielding Link’s trademark master sword
and shield I’m not being but I do know
him number 8 Super Smash Brothers Brawl
the new Smash Bros on Wii U and 3ds had
impressive trailers but we’re honoring
the first trailer that changed
everything
fans saw that veteran smash fighters
like Kirby and Mario would be back and
seeing that beloved Nintendo characters
like Pitt and Meta Knight would be added
to the mix would have been a good way to
cap off the trailer but oh boy
nothing could prepare us for the
surprise reveal of the first third-party
character in the franchise Solid Snake
shooting them number 7 portal thanks to
the Aperture Science handheld portal
device the impossible is easy if you’ve
ever worked a crappy job you probably
have painful memories of those annoying
orientation videos that don’t actually
teach you anything if at first you don’t
succeed you fail the trailer for this
game hilariously spooked videos like
that while also showcasing the awesome
and unique capabilities of the portal
gun there’s a hole in the sky through
which things can fly the para dick style
showed us the black humor that would
become a trademark of this game and its
sequel so in case you don’t make it
through the testing
number six The Last Guardian it’s been
one of the most hyped games for years
thanks solely to this amazing teaser and
the knowledge that it’s being developed
by the same folks behind Shadow of the
Colossus it reveals the affecting
emotional attachment between a boy and
his giant pet Griffon Trico as well as
the massive scale of the world they
inhabit who wouldn’t get psyched about
getting to fly on a huge mythical
creature now if only Sony could have
given us a real game instead of leaving
us hanging for over five years
number five Deus Ex Human Revolution the
future is apparently gold tinted and
human revolutions teaser trailer showed
us everything and everyone has a secret
it’s also a time of chaos and conspiracy
cinematic and scale we get to see the
awesome if life-changing augmentation
that happens to protagonist Adam Jensen
I never asked for this we certainly
wouldn’t want to live in that future
forever but the clip made it look like
it would be a cool place to visit
number four BioShock Infinite
hey look it’s rapture from the first
game no that’s a fish tank this clip
played on our excitement by starting in
the sea then heading upward to reveal
the flying city of Columbia that was the
game setting the trailer did a good job
of leaving various hints as to what to
expect in the game from the abundance of
American flags some interesting
propaganda signage that is enough to
make anyone curious number three fallout
3 I don’t want to set the world due to
layoffs added Studios during development
there was concern that this game would
never come out
but this teaser showed us that it would
be back and better than ever it features
the franchise’s trademark use of early
jazz to introduce us to the desolate
post-nuclear landscape where the game
takes place in my eye the ominous shot
of the brotherhood of steel soldier and
the foreboding voiceover at the end were
the perfect finishing touch
war war never changes
number two Starcraft 2 wings of Liberty
the Terran combat armor always looked
badass and this clip gave us an up close
look at it being put on by Tychus
Findlay a nice nod to the lore from the
first Starcraft game where most of the
Marines are resocialized convicts but
what’s best is that it’s unclear that
you’re even watching anything Starcraft
related until the second half of the
trailer oh he was prepared to drop not
to mention he sums up what a lot of fans
have been thinking since they’d been
waiting almost a decade for this game oh
it’s about time before we get to our
number 1 let’s take a look at some
honorable mentions
number one Dead Island without question
this is one of the best game teasers
we’ve ever seen it combines somber
swelling string music with gorgeous slow
motion reversed zombie violence to
showcase a girl’s journey from being
happily on vacation with her parents to
being a victim of the undead now if only
the actual game had any sort of
emotional moment to match this one as
such this trailer has also taught us to
be cautiously optimistic about CG
trailers in the future
do you agree with our list which video
game teaser trailer had you tempted to
preorder you should have acted for more
