eternal question dubs or subs if zeros
the man I think he is he’s moving into
position right now we’ve got to trust
him welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’ll be counting down our picks for the
top 10 best english dubbed anime dude
that was close
for this list we considered anime series
that were produced in Japan and have
been translated and dubbed efficiently
in the English language
these ones exist and we have to destroy
them all many English dubs change things
like dialogue and narration for example
this Yoshiaki Sawa cutie that I said it
did becomes this what you are witnessing
can only be described as akihisa yoshi
cornered naturally it can be done for
better or for worse and today we’re
exploring the former you did it of
course I didn’t my lord
I told you I never lie number 10 Code
Geass they louche of the rebellion my
yours o self-confident it’s all in the
performance since the media wants a
charismatic Prince I give them one
characters are integral to an engaging
story and our next entry is no exception
this is a pure example of an ensemble
cast featuring the voice talents of John
Young Bosch Crispin Freeman and Steve
Blum just to name a few so embarrassing
it’s called honesty well good thing the
Black Knights were there to save him
from reactions and deliveries to spot-on
dialogue performances not a single cast
member brings down the general
performance while it can be argued that
a few scenes are underplayed and lost
during translation Code Geass
is a must for English dub dance these
are not just any who dies
me of seven years ago but it’s different
now this time we have nightmares as well
your highness even to us please you have
to withdraw for now
number nine Wolf’s rape they say there’s
no such place as paradise even if you
search to the ends of the earth there’s
nothing there the end is nigh and
paradise awaits but only a few surviving
wolves know about it this series follows
a group of wolves with the power to
appear human as they try to survive long
enough to find the promised land
relax old man wolves have been extinct
for 200 years just a kid’s fairy tale
the thing about fairy tales is there’s
always some truth in them voiced by
legendary anime voice actor Johnny Yong
Bosch North American audiences were
enthralled by the lead character Kiba as
well as the rest of the voice cast dogs
and I don’t get along all that well I’m
kind of allergic to them hmm this is the
reason you and I would never work while
there are a few changes to the dialogue
many feel that the English translation
of Wolf’s rain comes out better than the
original it smelled like something
interesting was gonna happen and I just
followed my nose you know besides I got
nowhere else to go
number 8 space dandy no going with the
flow is where it’s at and that’s the
dandy way to live space dandy may be a
fairly new series but if you haven’t
seen it yet you gotta check it out this
absurd sci-fi comedy is all about well
boobies but with the great voice work of
Funimation fan favorites like Ian
Sinclair and Allison Victor and the
dialogue is bang-on and perfectly
matches the series tone with the
constant fourth wall breaking and
hilarious narrator voiced by Robert
Bruce Elliot this translation was far
from lazy and watching it subtitled
might be missing out there are countless
others like that one
and those and all of them far too many
to name no seriously I’m done wow he
really found that one end in me no
kidding
how do I get that job number seven Black
Butler do you think one who was among
the faithful would ever go so fast to
summon someone like you
I’ll ask what once more do you wish to
form a contract with me I do
welcome to the Phantomhive Manor just
don’t mind the staff chronically in the
relationship between the heir to the
funtom company Ciel Phantomhive and
demon in disguise sebastian michaelis
black butler stays faithful to the manga
for only half a season everyone listen
closely and do exactly as I say
understand we must be quick about this
we might save this knight yet with an
entire new story to work with after
brina palencia adds a layer of innocence
to Ciel while J Michael Tatum almost
creates an entirely new character that
feels completely different from the
original Japanese translation this
series is one for the fans of both
English dubs and subtitles that’s great
to hear after all I am an actress and
quite a good one at that
of course you’re not really Sebastian
either are you Sebastian is the name my
master gave me so that is who I am for
now
number six baka and test series it’s
never too late to tell the truth do it
I’ll give you a reward right on your
lips the rest of them are aliens from
outer space very good oh hell are you
doing I just love you I’m not worthy
another series brought to the west
courtesy of Funimation Entertainment the
BAA contest franchise has shall we say a
lot of arguing and bickering who looks
the same as it did earlier nothing’s
different that’s because you’re still
standing in the exact same place it
looks different up close no I don’t want
you to touch me I mean if you get too
close it’ll just look blurry usually
something this Yeley would be hard for
English voice actors to keep up with but
veteran performers like Josh growl and
Leia Clarke keep the conflicts as
believable as they are funny Lucas
there’s only one way we’re gonna get out
of this massive ball of suck we can’t
allow ourselves to make it past the
first round and no one can find out
we’re guys number 5
Hellsing Ultimate who the hell are you
your death make way for quite possibly
Crispin Freeman’s best performance to
date
Alucard was already a fan favourite from
the original series so how can you
become even better job attack me
the loss of your legs summing up your
familiars a tail falling closer to the
original manga definitely helps but
Crispin adds a demented aspect to an
already nonchalant certified badass
don’t dare mistake my patience for
cowardice honestly I was starting to get
a bit bored waiting for you add in the
rest of the excellently performed cast
including the talents of Katie gray and
Victoria Harwood then you have the gore
filled world the Japanese know and love
for English audiences considering that
most of the characters all have British
accents anyway you’re not missing
anything by watching the English version
of this series you’ll still English have
some manners hmm
number 4 a can Oh so are you ready never
has the prohibition-era sounded so vivid
in this cousin series to Durarara we
follow a large cast of characters caught
in a collection of supernatural esque
events over a number of years you let it
go leave her alone she’ll do what needs
to be done besides she won’t live as
tomorrow considered as a launch pad for
many newcomers to the voice-acting world
a large cast is full of many hot new
names you people are all the same
oh yeah such a large variety of
characters brings a large range of
voices but they’re all supported by
excellent performances from veterans
like Michael J Tatum and Caitlin glass
who played the beloved couple Isaac and
Miriam what do you think it means me I
think it means we won of course we’re an
undefeated duo number three School
Rumble it sir
holy crap now hold on young man but not
shot at the enterprise based on the
popular manga of the same name School
Rumble is as loyal to its source
material as an anime can be it’s only
fitting that the English dubbing
continues this trend and it does not
disappoint the dialogue rewrites keep
the spirit of the manga intact and if
you’re able to look beyond the
superficial and see what makes this
series so great you can appreciate the
English doubts too dammit so far I’m
dead in the water
hirama you gotta come up with a better
idea there’s gotta be another way to
Warner number 2 Black Lagoon hey
bartender bring us on the car you got
right now jeez
and all this time here I was thinking
you didn’t want confrontation
in order to be a great English dub you
can’t be afraid to go beyond just the
literal and black lagoons dub is on
point you’re all insured it shouldn’t
matter right weak boy revi what the hell
are you thinking
following the lagoon company a group of
badass mercenaries and their dangerous
assignments when made Black Lagoon so
popular is the almost non-stop vulgarity
present in the manga
so of course the anime adaptation
wouldn’t be the same if they toned the
language down featuring a standout
performance by marika Hendrix as
gun-wielding sociopath revi prepare
yourselves for a Betty of glorious
expletives don’t cry dipshit don’t you
know you gotta enjoy right a slip away
before we dub over our top pick here are
a few honorable mentions
Lieutenant Colonel mace you is a
pleasure you want Edward I’m actually
his younger brother alpha you’re the
full metal alchemist sorry I have no
idea peace I’ll go on sale it I dare you
no good weights like you should have
been plucked a long time ago you don’t I
sure love bikes especially motorcycles
when you hear the roar of that engine we
should go riding together sometime
number one Cowboy Bebop who are you I’m
just an old-fashioned cowboy you’re a
bounty hunter yeah that’s right
and you are after us let’s jam taking
our top spot is this classic space
bounty hunting series following season
bounty hunter spike Spiegel and his crew
on their spaceship the bebop it’s
history man everything’s broken around
this place widely considered by fans and
critics alike as an English dub
masterpiece director Melissa Williamson
brings another level of depth to the
series with a perfect voice cast and
just the right amount of tweaking to the
original Japanese script when you have
the likes of David Lucas more widely
known as Steve Blum voicing legendary
spike Spiegel there is no way you can go
wrong enjoy the crown Bebop what’s it to
you nothing but a giggle but you’re
worth a barrelful allure on
self my friend do you agree with our
list what’s your favorite English dub
anime I take it you’re still feeling
uncomfortable with the situation for
more top 10s in their original language
