The Nine Planets – Mars

Mars is the fourth planet in line from
the Sun and it is the last of the
terrestrial planets its equatorial
diameter measures just over 6,500
kilometers making it just about half the
size of Earth it makes a full orbit of
the Sun approximately every 687 days
Mars can be seen by the naked eye and is
one of the brightest objects in the
night sky the planet appears reddish and
was thus given the nickname the red
planet Mars has two small moons Phobos
in fact or it’s closer to a planet than
any other moon in the solar system less
than 6,000 kilometers experiments
continue to be conducted on Mars to
determine whether or not living
organisms ever existed on the planet
nothing has ever been confirmed and any
positive findings are heavily disputed
Martha’s seasonal rotation is the most
similar to that of Earth however each
season is about twice as long when Mars
is closest to the Sun in its orbit it
can experience dust storms that cover
the entire planet it is also home to the
largest mountain and largest canyon in
the solar system embarrassing Mount
Everest and the Grand Canyon just to
compare Mount Olympus on Mars rises 27
kilometers while Mount Everest is just
under 9 kilometers high
