The Geography of Quebec City

hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’ll be looking
at the geography of Quebec City the
location of the city was originally
chosen because of its strategic location
the ease with which it could be defended
and its panoramic views of the st.
Lawrence River Quebec City can be found
where the st. Lawrence and st. Charles
rivers meet the name Quebec likely
derives from an Algonquin word which
means where the River narrows located on
the North Shore of the st. Lawrence
Quebec City is found in the river valley
the city is built on Cape Diamond a high
bluff lined by a sharp cliff this cliff
marks a separation between the two
sections of Quebec City upper town and
lower town lower town is found at the
base of the cliff at shore level to the
north of the city lie the Laurentian
Mountains the highest waterfalls in the
province of Quebec are found just
outside Quebec City the choice of a
location for Quebec City may have had
its roots and function but today what is
offered to visitors is a land rich with
history and spectacular vistas
