you watch watch watch kama Malik Shaheed
for dance trends today we are
interviewing Fang from Quest Crew who’s
gonna talk to us about hip hop let’s
check it out so for people who don’t
know who you are toast about who you are
I am a dancer located in California and
I’m a part of a crew called quest group
through on America’s Best Dance Crew
season 3 tell us about the style of
dance that you do hip hop with in hip
hop but it’s more from the urban
choreography side versus the b-boy and
popping I’m locking side of hip hop
people watch TV this you dance see your
crew dance or what’s hip hop what’s hip
hop dance today
well when hip-hop started the dancing
was very surfing b-boying and then it
moved into popping and locking but where
it is now like three decades later it’s
kind of morphed into more of just a
movement and the lifestyle I feel like
it’s more of a expression from that
culture but because so many people have
added their own little flavors and taste
its kind of involved into this thing
where that vocabulary isn’t really set
anymore there’s a foundation but past
that it’s kind of however you interpret
it
what’s the foundation of HIPAA for dance
within hip-hop is such with b-boy which
is the rock this rock that you have is
within all hip-hop dance foundation was
you know when you’re just in the car you
hear song you love you’re just like oh I
love this song I mean I like that but
you know you could you do this right
then you take this you put your hips
into it like this this is where it’s at
with hip-hop like you know how b-boys
they do you know they do all define yeah
crazy stuff like that see in the motion
isn’t it
you see people at the clothes like oh
like do crazy subs that’s where I think
I feel like the core at about comes from
is this rock motion and then just move
to west coast which is poppin which is
you know like the robot or like Boogaloo
which is a lot of hips and then lock is
already funky kind of evolved in the
disco era so that is the foundation of
hot dog dance
it’s from the rock and moving all the
way to those things popping limits um
it’s the flexing the muscles at a very
fast twitch that makes it looks like a
pop okay like this okay so a wave that
we all use is a separation of all these
different joint muscles like that you
have the wrist you have the elbow lift
the shoulder shoulder elbow wrist chance
so that’s like away and that plus the
hit is used a lot in urban choreography
borrowing from poppin which is the part
of the foundations in 2000 you said to
hit right yes what’s the hit the hit
okay I’ll show you my chest um it’s a
fast twitch in your muscle okay and also
when you reflex really hard
you notice all your muscles tensing up
they do it really fast it looks like a
hit okay that so if all this information
gave us now I think it’s time for you to
show us some moves and ready for that
oh you moves well okay well I did do a
lot of talking so I will show you to
dance moves okay one I learned because
um about my traveling which I’ve been
blessed to do with quest I was able to
learn the melbourne shuffle in Australia
that I’m kind of sort of loving and in
kind of like start playing with and the
other one is uh it’s one evolution now
it’s the dougie because it’s a two-step
really
with some swag in it I’m gonna start
with the the dougie because it’s the
dance you know anyone she can do anyone
can know it’s basically are you doing
it’s gonna two-step this like thing you
did at the prom with a girl this is
right here this is the two-step and what
you want to do it’s gonna lean into it
lean into it push it push it
make it bigger bigger bigger bigger and
your arms you can just you know if you
got a little doom in your hair
sure and just this this is the dougie
that’s it you’ll see all kinds of crazy
stuff but that’s because people are just
really created but that right there this
is Doug
we talked about the melbourne shuffle
right no morning shuffle okay
that’s to me is a some new stuff that I
figured out late recently I’m sorry
so um do you guys know what the running
man is the running man this is this it’s
like an old running chug that’s the
running man from the 90s right yeah no
more shuffle is done to an electro house
techno music for music and it’s the
running man myself stepping down you’re
kicking out so your splatling
see and you can do it big put the box
back or you can just kind of let me get
gliding
you can you know go side to side and
back in again it’s all this but really
it’s the running man Wow but make it
flat to the friend rock back
