compact concept cars BMW and its
subsidiary mini both unveiled compact
concept cars at the 2008 paris motor
show the BMW x1 is the german automakers
first small crossover utility vehicle
the x1 follows the path forged by BMW x3
which is one of the larger compact SUVs
however the new x1 will be smaller in
size and price than its bigger brother
despite this cheaper price tag the x1
should still come equipped with BMW
standard features such as anti-lock
brakes an anti-skid system hill descent
control and front and curtain side
airbags design elements leave the x1
looking robust with unique head and tail
lamps member of the board of management
of BMW AG ian robertson says that there
will be further development before the
car goes into production now this is
just a general direction but i think the
reception is had here from the media
from the journalists and the public who
are looking at it today as being just
what we wanted so i think it gives us
the confidence to take the next step the
x1 should hit the market sometime in
2010 although sales will most probably
be exclusive to Europe also expected to
make its marketplace premiere in 2010 is
the mini crossover concept this mini is
slightly longer and wider than the mini
clubman and is considered a mini SUV it
has a distinctive door configuration
which consists of conventional doors in
the front and back right side as well as
a sliding door on the back left the rear
hatch opens sideways Ian Robertson says
the evolution of the MINI brand brought
them to this SUV design it’s the next
step for mini we are expanding the brand
you know we started with the 3 door
hatch we moved on to convertibles we
recently launched the codman and the
next step for us is a crossover vehicle
which will be the first four door mini
ever other details which state route

located on the center console of the car
it not only links the front and back
seats of the car but offers unique
storage alternatives as well this is not
the most innovative of the crossover
concepts features the mini center globe
is the driver interface and is
controlled in various ways such as
