it’s finally here and we’ve played it so
what do we think
welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’re
going to be counting down 7 impressions
from The Legend of Zelda breath of the
wild for those of you that are afraid of
spoilers we’ll only be showing you
footage from the first four to five
hours of playtime mostly from the first
two don’t worry we won’t show you any
plot points dungeon locations cool loot
or complete huddle solution also please
keep in mind that the game has a lot
more than what we’ll show you here the
game is huge and we’ve seen a lot more
than that number 7 combat fun the past
sell the titles are known for being
fantastic game what amazing combat is
rarely one of the things people will
tell you that they love about them well
Magento’s definitely taken the time to
make combat in breath a while they punch
here more satisfying affair the leaps
and back lifts fans will remember from
like other 3d adventures have gotten a
modern makeover there’s a few twists
this along with a huge supply of ways to
dispatch your foes makes for
surprisingly varied and crazy-looking
fight number 6 it’s not too easy
don’t get me wrong here it’s not a
really difficult game but while playing
I never got that nagging feeling like I
was playing a game poor kid there are
plenty of ways to get yourself killed
especially if you’re like me and you
decide to increase your stamina before
your total amount of heart Vence you’re
unprepared into the cold and you’ll
freeze to death quick or get too
ambitious that you’re climbing and
you’ll run out of stamina and fall to
your death
enemies outside of the starting zone and
even a few inside the starting zone can
kill you in one or two hits and even the
scrubs can offer up a few surprises too
like when this guy kicks my own bomb
back at me not see that coming number 5
performance can vary one of the only
disappointments we experienced with
breath of the wild was the occasional
framerate dip certain areas of the game
caused noticeable drops in the
performance which is kind of a downer
considering that this was a launch title
as other outlets have reported these
dips and performance seemed to be most
present in TV mode as opposed to hand
health which is consistent with what
we’ve experienced this is probably due
to the slightly lower resolution in
handheld mode it was never distracting
enough to pull us out of the fun but you
know it is what it is number 4 it’s fun
to play an open-world Zelda title this
may sound kind of silly but it’s worth
mentioning although some of the tropes
we’ve grown kind of tired of from
sandbox games are definitely here like
towers adding the fundamentals up is now
the games into the mix feels like a
quote breath of fresh air it’s really
fun to get lost Skyrim style take out
camps like you would in Far Cry and then
stumble upon a small dungeon with
carefully designed build a puzzle
number three physics plus Zelda equals
awesome this is another no-brainer kind
of point especially since a lot of games
have been doing this for a long time but
adding physics to the combat in puzzles
is nothing short of amazing
much like half-life 2 did a decade ago
the slower more thoughtful puzzle
moments and the combat encounters have
both greatly benefited from elements
that can swing bull slide and explode in
realistic fashion yes I admit that part
of what makes this so great is the
novelty of having these things in a
Zelda title but it’s really cool
nonetheless number two swapping weapons
takes some getting used to as you’ve no
doubt heard
link is a pretty wide selection of toys
to play with this time around you’re
constantly constantly picking up all
kinds of new stuff but the biggest
turnover will be in the weapons
department almost all of the weapons you
pick up early on break after a few uses
or after you literally launch them at
some dude this also means that you’re
going to constantly be scrambling to
equip a new one mid battle which is a
mechanic that you’ll definitely spend a
bit of time getting used to number one
it can be really beautiful occasional
framerate hiccup design breath of the
wild can be a really beautiful game
trotting peacefully through overgrown
ruins or stalking deer in the tall grass
moments like this are overflowing with
atmosphere and experiencing them with
headphones curled up on the couch all by
yourself makes for a really special
sense of immersion
well that’s our impressions after the
first few hours if you have any
questions we might be able to answer
them in the comments and for more great
