seemed like you can develop this little
demented world then anything can happen
you can have like a really exciting job
where no two days are like because it
all makes sense he is not your typical
DJ hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with kid koala right now right now we
don’t get together and give you a tune
the way I request for so when did you
first decide to become a DJ and follow
it as a profession when I was 12 first
time I heard scratching really yeah
something like that I was in a store
with a record store and I heard this
scratching coming out of the speakers
and they were playing a mix tape I was a
media be fascinated with the sound
figure out how they do that how do they
make those noises what kind of music are
you most interested in working with it’s
not the type of musics like now I have a
record cutter so I actually make my own
records so I might just go play like an
e on a violin and record that II onto
the record and then once it’s on the
record I can bend it in all the other
notes
you find music has to have a common
thread the range of the turntable is
that it can bend anything so that it can
comfortably fit in any genre I’m not
really about squat like the juxtaposed
words where it hurts this is all I’m
almost like try to find things of those
two perfect parts of jism work perfectly
together the way they all come together
it just sort of fits into like a
demented little universe or make sense
they might be from completely different
styles of music or instruments or
whatever it is you know eras even I like
recording some surf guitar putting that
over like some swing drums which would
be reminiscent of something from the 30s
but then you have like surf guitar and
then maybe you have a spoken word radio
bit from the 70s you can make this
impossible band happen is that why you
bring in kind of like the spoken word
comedy records and stuff like that
that’s just because I was raised on the
Muppet Show for instance they had same
format a lot of TV shows that for
instantly okay here’s your time slot but
then within that time slot they were
able to go you know from pigs and space
to a frog singing a ballad bear telling
jokes who come through Pig it’s all in
there and you don’t even bat an eye at
it you just kind of like yet this makes
sense this is the Muppet Show and I
think that’s the thing with the
turntable is just like it can go to all
those places that no one can tell you
what a turntable record sounds like
because you can sound like anything x
everything you can do once it’s on it
rent you know so it’s it’s infinitely
really its freedom to me
Oh
