the way we see albums is kind of like a
snapshot of where we were at that time
this band is known for their ever
evolving style hi I’m Rebecca Brayton
and welcome to watchmojo.com and today
we’re speaking with rice
I know a lot of bands are reticent to
label their sound but if you had to
describe your music for someone who’s
never heard it what would you say it’s
hard because I feel like our music has
changed over the course of the 12 years
or whatever we’ve been a band and I feel
like every record has been a step in a
different direction
now you mentioned kind of evolution of
event how would you say that the band
has evolved from album to album it’s
funny because I feel like people expect
change from us now with every record
because it has been different
but you know it’s never been a goal of
ours we never set out to make a record
and then like okay we’ve got to make it
different how are you gonna make it
different it’s just a natural
progression of us you know just growing
as people as musicians and even just our
tastes and music kind of evolving we’ve
never really put like a limit on
ourselves and we just kind of do what
comes natural of evolution is just a
product of us just doing whatever we
want to do
I wanted to know kind of what the band’s
writing process is like I mean do you
each bring your individual pieces
together and then make a hole basically
we just kind of compiled ideas
individually and then when it comes time
to write we’ll kind of get together
share all our ideas basically see if
like one person’s idea can work with
another person’s or if one person’s idea
can spur another idea that you know can
build off of it or whatever and then
just kind of get in the studio and just
jam on it play together and see what
comes of it now I have to bring up the
the leaking situation the album whose
leaves like three months before its
actual release date what impact would
you say that that event had on the band
and the album it happened so far out
that we we had to just completely shift
gears
you know you you have a plan to roll out
the record you have tours lined up
because we had we had to push to release
the album up so so so much
we basically had to like just make a
u-turn and just totally just restructure
the entire plan for the record within
like a couple days
just kind of hope the people that
actually appreciate your music will
understand that you know buying the
record supports the band and allows us
to keep doing what we’re doing
thank you very much
you
