Interview with the Hellbound Hepcats

hey I’m your host Laila pompadour hair
and boogie woogie the hellbound hepcats
bring you entertainment from the 50s and
here are watchmojo.com they tell us more
about the rockabilly talents all right
this is a hellbound hepcats and we’re
gonna play you an original this one it’s
called how many girls you ready man yep
first I’d like you guys to introduce
yourselves and then tell me what you
play yeah i’m jordan i play the stand up
and the hell don’t have yet I’m Alex and
I play lead guitar and vocals for the
hellbound hepcats how long have you been
into Rockets of culture we got his dad’s
record collection when we started
listening to rockabilly for a while an
old blues and we started just playing
along to the records and stuff just one
thing led to another and eventually we
just started playing weekly and then
bi-weekly Alex when did you discover you
could sing Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash
so well it took a little of that with
lots of squealing squeaking voices I’d
never knew I knew how to sing until that
was kind of like forced into it because
not you couldn’t sing I just started
saying I’m in it what kind of musical
background or knowledge have you needed
to play the songs that you play not much
we we pretty much play the blues fest
doesn’t know where my father was a
musician as well so I grew up with a lot
of music around I’ve maybe had a handful
of guitar lessons in my life but that’s
about it it was more from let’s just
listening to songs and records how
natural is the performance art to you
guys comes very naturally to me and I
think that a good music is always well
appreciated but I find it a lot of bands
just kind of play it as if they have to
or they have to be there and like we
just play it like it’s the first time
every time
oh man
yo
how does music factor into your future
plans the same as it is now we’re
playing that’s all we do it’s our job as
well as our passion really and I’m gonna
continue doing it until it becomes
boring I guess keep doing the bar gigs
because that brings in the money but at
the same time we’re going to maybe start
writing more originals I don’t really
know what the future holds at all no I
didn’t even know we were playing tonight
