Interview with Slipknot’s Chris Fehn or Number 3

despite tragedy and various side
projects this heavy metal band has
stayed together because of the music hi
my name is stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Chris otherwise known as number
three from slick
I wanted to talk a bit about the
antennas to health operation I’ve read
that it’s sort of serves as a tribute to
what Slipknot used to be or as though
the first chapter can you elaborate what
that means exactly it’s still the same
to us you know obviously things change
you know and things happen but anytime
that we were able to put something
together and put it out to the world
it’s a just a hint of into our lives and
into what goes on you know that people
might not necessarily understand so it’s
not really like you’re leaving anything
behind and studying or a chapter or you
know I believe you can always start new
chapters but you can’t lose that paper
trail of where you’ve been you know it’s
always good to see growth loss and
that’s how I feel about any of those
things yeah
this
without y’all
I wanted to ask you guys if you’re going
to be working on new material or if you
already have and what the next direction
for Slipknot is yeah I think everybody’s
you know in Slipknot’s always thinking
about new material and stuff but we
never have a date on when things are
going to happen I blah blah blah we’re
just going to take things as they come
right now and make sure that when we do
go into the studio it’s kind of tight so
we’re saying I’m telling you it’s like
all of a sudden like hey get to the
studio in two days you know we all just
like boom and we’re all just there but
until that there’s no way to predict it
can you talk to me a bit about the
recording process for Slipknot and you
obviously have quite a few members in
the band and so is it challenging is it
difficult to have so many voices and
ideas come together no it’s just things
just happen I can’t explain it there’s
no like you know at 6:35 there’s going
to be a guitar track set you know it
doesn’t even it’s just a flow
can you talk to me a bit about your
relationship with your friends amazing
you know it’s so cool that to break all
the stereotypes of what people might
perceive a metal can to be or anything
in I’m engineers I need scientists
I mean you know you can’t believe it and
the guy looks like you wouldn’t give him
a nickel you know because he looks the
way he does he’s like oh yeah I got my
master’s degree and chemical science and
you just appear like it’s so amazing and
so cool you know can understand and be a
part of I’m calling it the underworld
you know the people that really are
going to run the world
I’ll see you have a lot of fans around
the world a lot of you know might not
speak English so why do you think your
music resonates with people who might
not even understand the language I think
they feel the attitude and what’s going
on coming out of it is only nurse
there’s a lot of songs that I’ve heard
before I didn’t know the words to but
the music carries it through and that’s
what starts it knots when you start
learning the words and you know it’s
it’s a magical phone do you have any
surprising moments or memories of
meeting friends these kids were on my
parents driveway up by the house and I
pulled my car in and I walked up and one
kid passed straight out passed out fight
boom hit the ground I was like wow
alright kind of a big deal huh so that’s
just the funniest
