they’re a mix of death metal and eastern
folk influences originating from Israel
hi I’m Ricky to tea with watchmojo.com
and today we’re going to be chatting
with the band or Finland how did you
guys get together to form or Finland
basically we started out in the early
90s we were kids in high school and
we’ve been together for 19 years now
started up playing death metal with
various influences and various metal
styles very early on we realized that we
want to express the region we come from
with a Middle Eastern tunes and oriental
melodies that you bring from our homes
and that’s what we do this
what made you guys decide to mix death
metal with eastern folk music week
homage from different cities but the
background is similar we come from
coexistence Israel is a country that
melts different opinions and beliefs and
religions in one place and thus you get
a mixture of many cultures and colors in
one place so the same we bring into our
music
as a band you see ourselves as uniting
cultures through your music we see them
believe that music is a universal
language and it is a unifying power
through the vessel of music we can
bridge between different people and
different opinions
your new music video Safari literally
translates to tell me in Hebrew what
message are you trying to convey through
that the entire song itself is really
the modern arrangement to a traditional
Yemenite poem from 400 years back
we just layered it with the different
instruments and a progressive modern
arrangement of our own and that’s
basically orphan land we mix the past
with the present and future
through this entire experience we can
you give to people and what have you
learned through it every day I learn a
lot of things from many people that I
see on my way deliberately and on
deliberately so just stay open and stay
alert and tentative to ideas other
people’s beliefs and comments tips come
everyday on your way you just have to be
attentive to them
at the end of the day I guess you really
wanna sound unique try to find what
makes you sound like nothing else
so thank you very much for the interview
