Interview With Mike from the All-American Rejects

hell hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome
to watchmojo.com and today we’re
speaking with the all-american rejects I
wake up every evening with a big smile
on my face and it never feels out of
place so how did you guys go about
trying to one-up yourselves from your
move along album we definitely just
write what comes to us and you know work
with whatever comes out when you see my
face so it gives you hell of a gives you
when your walkman look move along we had
a lot of pressure from our label to make
a successful record to follow up swing
swing we’d actually just we’d been on
DreamWorks and her scope had bought it
out so we actually had to really prove
ourselves to these new people who hadn’t
believed in us and originally I have to
move along we had success so they were
all like Oh new records gonna be great
guys go in the studio it’s like we
hadn’t even written half the record yet
and everyone’s like oh it’s amazing like
I
it was good in the end it made us be
very self-critical more so than we’ve
ever been before which made for longer
writing and recording process but in the
end we feel like I came out with the
best record because of it and were you
guys at all fazed when your new album
was named the most anticipated album of
the year by alternative press we thought
that was cool we definitely didn’t let
it affect us too much with move along we
were also one of the most anticipated
records of whatever year that was it was
supposed to come out in and it did never
come out so the only real pressure we
fell from that this time was I this time
we have to put it out in the same year
that they said ruin the most anticipated
how would you say things have changed
for you and in the scene since you guys
broke onto the scene we have been very
one of the very fortunate few that have
lasted
like when we first started you know
everyone just kind of was like oh yeah
it’s like they’re long with the simple
plans and the good Charlotte’s found new
record and then come came along fall boy
at panic at the disco we got lumped in
with that we’re just like we don’t have
anything in common with these guys
period but now we’ve sort of like step
through it even like with this record
like the fall where I could happen to
come out the same day okay just would
again trying to put us in that or like
this and now I think we’re starting to
separate ourselves cuz they’re acting
like we’ve actually like gone ahead of
their record and sales which it’s kind
of cool now I was thinking we could do a
little lightning round do you guys ever
play rock band since you’re in rock band
the only times we play is theirs it
seems to be a popular like little radio
promo thing to like a winner gets to
play it with us and that’s the only time
we ever played and we’re horrible
absolutely atrocious at it what does
your last text message thing it’s
probably something very cheesy sure not
to embarrass myself here I said reading
that makes me happy that’s all you get
that’s mysterious
we’re song ever recorded in the history
of the world all these things they use
autotune on the vocals now are so bad I
know there’s some sacani songs that have
it and huh a coon
what’s the craziest thing that’s ever
happened to you want to her we were
fighting a really small place and they
had this like shelf of power amps above
the stage that I didn’t see and I jumped
up in my head just do it dug right into
it I got off stage and blood all running
down my face I felt very Rocking any
