Interview with Metal Band Winds of Plague

they’re deaf core sound is distinguished
by symphonic elements
hi my name is Stephanie and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
to vocalist Johnny from winds of plague
what are some of your musical influences
all kinds of music from classical to you
know to hip-hop and then into all the
different kinds of metal death metal
black metal all that stuff probably my
biggest influences Hatebreed they’re
actually on the show today and ant Lamb
of God so it’s awesome to be on tour
that
do you guys have any influences sort of
like in the other types of media
television or film we like to like know
kind of pull off of like epic films like
you know 300 Lord of the Rings that kind
of stuff just kind of want to create
that that vibe that epic vibe
your last album the great stone war was
a concept album can you tell me a bit
about the themes surrounding this album
and why you use the device I just wanted
to write positive Dalton I don’t know
why I just wanted to it was a pain in
the ass but no I’m glad I did it it was
definitely a challenge the idea of it is
like the apocalypse and it’s taking a
neutral standpoint on the side of good
and evil the idea is instead of going
forward into technology and then it’s
like more digresses in civilization
so that the last wars fought with like
stone instead of nuclear weapons
can you tell me a bit more about this
upcoming record how is it different from
your previous ones the last one went
over a lot of people’s heads like it was
a little too much this one which I
taking it back few cents for we’re going
to try and make it a little bit more fun
more live show friendly if you will like
sing-alongs you know the kids come out
and like March and have a good time but
I still keep that like epic feel that
we’ve had
what would you say is the most difficult
thing about playing in a band that does
deaf core music it’s an extremely
unstable life you don’t know when you
have money coming in when you don’t have
fun coming in and you know you’re never
home and it’s not like we’re out here
making you know tons of money and can do
all this sick stuff
it’s we’re out here because we love
doing it
you guys have stored with suffocation
and now with this Torah on heavy MTL you
guys return with a whole bunch of metal
legends as well so what does this mean
for you
when I saw the lineup I thought we were
the by far like the youngest newest band
on it who sold the least amount of
records is anyone on it but hopefully
it’s it’s a sign you know that whatever
in that in the vein of those bands
guys ever got any advice from some
veteran beds especially like touring
with older bands you know and they see
they see getting frustrated with certain
things or isn’t that you know they’ll
pull you aside and kind of give you a
little advice
it’s definitely learned a lot from
touring with with bands that have been
around the block a few times
thank you so much
thank you
