they blend influences like electro
dubstep and bask folk didn’t see that
one coming he won’t you go to bloody I’m
going down
hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with crystal fighters about star of love
tell us about star of love it’s an
acronym for soul which is son in Spanish
and touches upon like many grand themes
all brought to us from this piece of
writing handed down to us from Laura so
it covers you know the omnipotence and
the power of the Sun and through to the
tragedies of death yeah really grand
concepts of the universe and and things
that we all encounter day today but we
start by we really tried to make a
journey of music Google taste too many
styles as well but we feel it
underpinned by Thunder Lima anthemic
sort of energy and feeling and emotion
which I hope it carries through to the
listener
hell with y’all and I will
you’re what is your writing process like
it can start from a lyrical idea and
melodic idea you know some will have a
lyrical and melodic idea we can come
from ripping on it but generally will
sort like jam it out together and sort
of work through it because there are so
many different styles that we all like
you know maybe not all of us like that
thing so we work it together until we
find it but I think the key thing is to
have you know like something to say with
each track and from there once you drop
that down and you’ve got signed to say
then the rest is sort of down to taste
would you mind choosing one or two of
the singles and telling us a bit about
the concepts behind them and the videos
so one of our singles plage which is
French for beach obviously is a lovely
ditty about going down to the beach for
the girl but you really like at four in
the morning it sounds very much like a
summary song but it’s actually at night
and then the video for it actually
touches upon the more psychedelic
elements of the band and plays more with
the visual effects either
another single of ours is at home
it’s actually a very happy sounding song
but the meaning inside is actually far
more depressing it’s about you know
traveling a long way to find to see your
love but when you get there you realize
it’s not your love at all
the live show is an important part of
your whole persona describe your
approach to the live show and maybe what
we can expect from one we really believe
that you know this yeah when people sit
at home and listen to a CD or listen to
song I think they want one thing they
won’t sign that’s listenable and when
people go out to a gate they I think
they what we believe they want something
else they want something with my
energetic more abundant so on the record
star of love it’s very much quite
listenable as we play live we add a lot
of elements to it and bring several much
more live vibe and a raw energy expect
you know passion conflict characters
