so the first saxophone I brought with me
today is my tenor saxophone which is the
one of the lower range saxophone members
of its family and I would like to show
you how it’s built it basically made out
of three different parts this here is
the body with the bell and the tomb so
as you can see there’s different sets of
keys here some that you would press with
your fingertips some that you would
press with the size of your finger like
these three and some the you would press
with your palm like this and there’s
even some for your thumb so even though
it looks very complicated and there’s a
lot of keys you’ll notice everything
fits onto my fingers and I just need to
know which one to press in which order
the next part of the body is this neck
that it’s right on top here and this is
the part through which the air is going
to arrive from your lungs into the
inspiration now finally the most
important part of the saxophone is the
mouthpiece this is what is actually
going to generate the note and this is
what’s going to influence the sound you
have the most the most important part is
this little piece of cane i’m holding
here it’s called a wreath and these come
in different strengths depending on what
kind of sound you want to have if you’re
more used to classical music or more
jazz or more rock they come in different
cuts this is a regular cut
and they have filed cuts to me and this
is exactly like when you were blowing
through blades of grass when you were a
kid like kids and it would make that
sound this works exactly along the same
concept so you need to put the read on
the mouthpiece like this and make sure
it’s well in mind you can keep it in
place with your thumb and slide this on
top make sure you screw it and really
tight so it stays in place and you go
just slide it onto the cork piece here
and the cork is to make sure it’s
airtight and stays in place and voila my
mounted tenor saxophone
