Guide to Diamonds – The Four C’s of Buying a Diamond Ring

I truly believe on that expression that
says that a diamond is forever hi this
is vanessa villela we watchmojo.com and
today we’re going to be talking to
jewelry expert Monica Kaufman was going
to talk to us about the famous foresees
flowery cut color and carried most
important of course being the carrot the
bigger the better I would say the most
important see to consider first is the
cut the cut refers to the various
proportions of the stone one in relation
to the other most salespeople in jewelry
stores never spoke much about cut
because it wasn’t much talked about with
the American Gem Society nor the
Gemological Institute of America today
is becoming more and more prevalent
where they’ve actually organized a cut
grade on the report the cut of the stone
I mean you’re not paying in a huge
preview maybe five ten percent more but
if you have an excellent cut which is
the top grade or a very good cut which
is the second to the top you’re going to
have a stone that’s brilliant that
sparkles that really does what it’s
supposed to do so I would say the number
one factor to go for is cut I would
certainly say the second one is the
color I like a white stone personally so
you’re going to pay a pretty good
premium to go with the top colors being
d e and F now colors range from d2 z in
the normal color range d to about GH our
white stones after which you have yellow
in the stone that’s caused by nitrogen
in fact so I would definitely stick with
something as white I would say from a
value standpoint you can get a great
stone with a beautiful white GH color
obviously de FR better but the
differences are so mind you you won’t be
able to really tell so second factor for
me would be color third you know I guess
it would be clarity you know the clarity
I wouldn’t want to be below SI one on a
stone it starts at deep at flawless and
then it goes to I I three in fact I is
very included you certainly wouldn’t
want to own an eye stone for your finger
because it could actually just break
in other words there’s cleavage points
that it could just break the stone and
it’s where so I would tend to stick with
SI one which is slightly included and
better you’ll get a very good value if
you have SI one nowadays I mean the
people really like big stones I mean I
know I do yeah but everybody has
different tastes i know for example you
know my mother she prefers a smaller
stone but she thinks it’s more discreet
and more elegant yeah however we all
have you know different opinions and
different taste when it comes to
diamonds sure everything else um what
would you say now this is the biggest
trend when it comes to the size of a
diamond and the cut as well I would say
that ladies tend to like it bigger if
they can get it bigger it’s all a
question of your budget as far as the
cut or in other words the shape of the
stone goes i would say rounds are still
the most desirable or the most sought
after because it’s a traditional classic
look and it’s usually the one that’s
first chosen as an engagement ring but
of course over the years as
anniversaries get celebrated ladies will
often tend to upgrade and that’s
something we obviously offer our
customers the ability to upgrade their
stone as they go through the years and a
lot of people go for radiant cut today
princess radians are very beloved stones
they have a lot of life to them and they
sparkle and they offer something
different than the traditional round
