Golf Tips – How To Read A Green

hi I’m PGA member Jay golden and welcome
to watchmojo.com today I’m going to talk
about weeding greens it’s obvious how
important it is to read a green and to
read it correctly for example if you’re
playing the ball straight at the hole
and it curves too much to the right you
miss right if it’s straight at the hole
and it curves left you miss how do you
read greens well there are several
methods one is to take a catch your
stance behind the ball and see which
side of the hole is higher a way to
think about that if there was a bucket
of water which way with the water run
you could also do that from the other
side of the hall you could use a plumb
bob method where you line up the ball
the hole and your dominant I hold the
putter and the putter will show you one
side of the hole or the other and it
will read the brake I find the easiest
way I teach this to three-year-olds and
they get it like this you stand behind
your ball you straddle it with both feet
and you see which foot is higher if you
just stand behind your ball and straddle
you could feel which foot is higher of
course with experience you’ll start to
realize how much higher your foot is and
how much that will break if it’s way
higher on a short putt it might break
three inches if it’s slightly higher it
might break a half-inch
