Golf Tips – How To Putt From Off The Green

hi I’m PGA member Jay golden and welcome
to watchmojo.com today I’m going to talk
about putting from off the green for
many years putting from off the green
was the number one choice of golfers
from the beginning of time putt from off
the green if the ground is level if the
grass is low and the ground is somewhat
firm putt from off the green why because
when you use a 60-degree wedge or a sand
wedge you leave open a greater
opportunity for bad shots for sculling
it or hitting it fat we’re as a putter
with the small stroke there’s a much
greater chance of hitting the ball solid
of course you have to hit a little
harder because you’re hitting on higher
grass the first part of the putt but if
you practice it you’ll realize you don’t
have to hit it as hard as you think so
I’m going to look at this just as I
would a long putt except i’m going to
hit it a little harder i’m thinking
about distance because it’s a long putt
and i’m going to hit this just like a
long putt you could see how this grass
has almost no effect on that ball it’s
just like a long putt could you do this
with a wedge could you hit just with
your right hand and hit a decent shot
could you hit just with your left hand
and hit a decent shot how about hitting
with one hand with your eyes closed and
hit a decent shot
very unlikely why could you do it with a
putter because it’s easier to make solid
contact with the putter use a putter
from off the green whenever you can here
are the fundamentals number one the
situation has to allow it low grass
relatively level ground and firm ground
number to hit the ball a little harder
than you would for a putt of that length
and number three just think of it as a
long putt if you do that you will save
shots by putting from off the green
