Golf Tips – How To Hit A Sand Shot

hi I’m PGA member Jay golden and welcome
to watchmojo.com today we’re going to
talk about a sand shot from a green side
bunker for some reason people have a lot
of difficulty with this shot and I think
I know the reason they don’t know the
basic fundamentals the clubface is
square instead of open they don’t know
where they want to hit behind the ball
when they hit they stop here are the
fundamentals number one add address
start with the club head aiming to the
right of the target so that the club
face is almost aiming at the sky
number two aim left since the clubface
is opening the ball will go to the right
you have to aim five to ten feet left
number three know the exact spot where
you want the club to hit the sand and
it’s approximately three inches behind
the ball and that’s why I say instead of
addressing the ball address the spot in
the sand that you want to hit look at
that spot and try to hit that spot with
a fairly full swing
I’m opening the club face I’m aiming
left I’m looking at the spot that I want
to hit and I’m going to take a fairly
full swing and try my best to hit that
spot pretty close now a great drill that
you could do is to draw a line in the
sand get to a practice bunker and draw a
line and try your best to hit that line
because if you could hit that line you
could hit your spot if you hit way
behind that line or way in front of that
line you are not going to hit a good
sand shot open that clubface aim left
address the spot that you want to hit
just use those few simple fundamentals
