Get the Mad Men Looks

so far madman has one too many awards to
mention but let’s face it the best part
of the show is the clothes they’re
wearing hi I’m Veronica watchmojo.com
and today we’re at Banana Republic to
recreate the looks you covet at home so
for those of us who already don’t know
tell us about the show Mad Men it’s a
really popular show on AMC set in the
advertising world of the 1950s it’s a
very beautifully shot show the attention
to detail is amazing the sets the look
but especially the costumes I’ll join so
we were extremely happy to be able to
partner with them and bring to life a
collection interpreted by the looks of
Mad Men end of the 1950’s how would you
describe the menswear from the 50s the
men’s the most important thing is
tailoring you want to get a great that’s
really high on the armhole it’s got a
bit of a skinnier leg and that’s really
just made for you it’s just a look that
looks great on you that would be the
most important and then of course
there’s the details there’s a slightly
thinner tie the pop of a white shirt
delivery doze off and then extra details
cufflinks as well as tie clips these are
all little elements that you can easily
take from Mad Men and sort of interpret
in your own way and how would you
describe the women’s wear the women’s
wear that we’re looking at is really
great women’s office where it’s a really
interesting time in the 1950s and
there’s really sort of different types
of looks that have been interpreted it’s
all about the dress the dress is really
important for the office it’s obviously
very conservative in certain ways but
there’s also the confidence of the shape
especially with a character like Joan
she’s a woman who knows she has curves
and isn’t afraid to show them off Peggy
on the other hand is growing into her
confidence and so she wears it in a
slightly different way the 1950s is all
about showing off your waist and the
hourglass figure a belt on top of the
sweater for example the sweater set with
a high-waisted skirt these are our
modern interpretations of the 1950s that
are so on trend for
today
