Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Interview with Art Director Raphael Lacoste

follow etsy oh and I’ll tear through the
sprawling world of Constantinople hi I’m
Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Raphael lacoste art director of
assassin’s creed revelations my name is
Rafael Acosta director for Ubisoft my
role is to offer you everything that is
visual in the game so from the settings
to the characters but also the picture
treatment on what we we show in the
marketing fixture so that’s a no view of
everything that is visually tell us
about the character evolution that we’ll
see in the game it’s a big evolution and
revolution attire was really growing pay
white very bright on Revelation we
wanted to feel more than the old guy the
wise old wolf is very he’s going to try
to the point and we also want to feel
that this guy traveled a lot so we have
this mongolian fur on the shoulder we
have the red belt of Altair but also a
lot of interesting Ottoman patterns in
this address so its a mix of different
spiration tell us about the the time is
setting in location so the setting is
constantinople in the 16th century it’s
a very interesting setting because
Constantinople is not put it on the flat
ground it’s built on seven years the
city is littered with monuments so we
always have a step back to admire the
monuments at the same time we have a lot
of contrast because we have sloping
streets very dense streets with a lot of
overhanging structures like your
frontage and a lot of awnings and a lot
of you know merchants and people that’s
a very dense setting and also very
colorful very upsetting would you say
the new setting changes overall gameplay
because the city is built and in on on
heels we have a lot of opportunities to
new to the new campus so we have these
zip lines we use from rooftop to rooftop
you know to to to travel fast it
couldn’t be possible on the flat ground
so this kind of stuff is very
interesting also the fact that we have a
lot of minarets because it’s a Ottoman
city we can climb over to get these rich
high points and I have a lot of
opportunities for me
have nice beasters on the city also we
have to work with a lot of diversity a
lot of contrast so we don’t get bored
basically you evil from a district to
another district you know in a big city
you want to have different rules you
want to feel different stuff so we try
to work a lot on the diversity of the
very different districts and we have the
rich district but beautiful mineral
ornated house and the poor district is
only made of wood and crooked old house
there is no stone at all so we have a
lot of contrast between the different
places within the same city we try to
have a different kind of environments
what do you think will satisfy fans most
about this game I think people will
enjoy rly this new refreshing experience
because people love Italy but they’re a
bit tired of you know edgy when Italian
selling so I think that would be very
very exotic very fresh and very exciting
even if it’s still edgy oh the way he
acts in the city and how we show the
city how we are immersed in the city
will be a very new brand new experience
for the players thank you very much
thank you very much
