hi welcome to watchmojo.com i’m your
host monica and today i had a pleasure
to speak with artists vikmanis
he has an international reputation for
photographing pieces out of everyday
materials the brazilian-born new
york-based artist makes pictures out of
dirt diamonds sugar ketchup or anything
you can possibly imagine how did you get
into arts well wasn’t a very natural
thing for me because i was born in
brazil from a working-class family and
it took me 25 26 years to actually
accept the fact that that could be an
artist it was only when after I moved to
New York but I started thinking about
them and why this form photography has
allowed me to be able to work in a
number of different needle in all kinds
of scales as long as I could format it
through the medium of photography what
is your main source of inspiration
toy stores I don’t know that actually
your question answers its own questions
so it’s actually not having a main
source of inspiration so tell us more
about the materials you use for your
work I always lived in work at the same
place so I had in one corner of the
house bunch of paint and stuff that’s
made to be out and the other half the
kitchen you know and I could basically
do anything I want as long as a
photograph I just remain very open
you find them imaging this time thinking
help like what should I render this
image with and then it just comes to you
there is a message you want people to
get when they see your work I basically
want people to look harder at images you
know I’m not just be in the position of
a receiver images then get used to the
ritual point towards a medicine to think
about them because that is the language
of the future you know and the more you
think about the more you create an idea
of the cabin area grammar about the
visual world and surrounds you the more
you’ll be equipped will be able to equip
your children to dwell in the you know
in the world of the future which is very
very visual and very very complex moonta
ragada de nada the other was there
