creative and funny this duo genres spent
electronic pop rock hip-hop you name it
hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with 303 about their songwriting and a
few of their favorite collaborations
tell us all about the writing process
between you guys it varies a lot which I
think um it’s good actually because if
we have the same process every time we
dry the same song it depends like a lot
of times all come with some sort of
instrumental part of something that’s
more or less developed we’ll start
writing to it and then sometimes it’s
the opposite you know we’ll start with a
lyrical idea and build a beat around it
when it works at its best that’s both
those things coming in tandem and we’re
just in the studio I’m building a track
that’s usually the fun
what would you note as the biggest
difference between your two albums I
think we’ll want our first official
release that was like a lot of stuff
that I’ve been working on for a long
time at least instrumentally and i think
we had like three and a half weeks to
actually track everything and to finish
stuff and even write new songs i think
in between that and streets of gold we
learn tons we work a lot with different
producers and learn to you know wrote
some stuff for other people and stuff
and and so we accumulated a lot of
knowledge that’s like a blessing and a
curse because you have a lot more tools
to use video at the same time you know
like what you want more and it takes a
lot longer to get there we worked for
like the better part of four months on
streets of gold it was a longer process
I think you know hopefully the songs
came out a little bit more developed a
little bit more varied within I mean I
think it was also very important for us
to retain that aesthetic and like retain
you know what it is it makes us us and
not do something completely crazy just
stay true to what we do and make fun
sounding pop musica hopefully has a
little edge to it as a little different
and bring something
what are the biggest advantages or
disadvantages to being only two guys in
a band advantage I guess whenever
there’s like a decision to be made
there’s on to people I think it’s a lot
more conflict when there’s a lot more
people share responsibility and so if
someone’s not doing something you know
exactly who it is oh look at Shawn and
be like the show on the other side it’s
a little bit easier maybe to hide when
there’s more people in your band or just
you know I’m even on stage like to kind
of just do your own thing and go on your
own world and when there’s two people or
or even you know if you’re just one
person in a band it’s like all the times
don’t you and so it’s no no III like it
honestly I think two people is perfect
and I hope Sean doesn’t leave the man
soon hope you get this message
you guys like to collaborate quite a bit
why don’t you tell us about some of your
favorite experiences I remember cave
asking Shawn to go get her like greasy
chips to help her sink because
apparently that like kind of loosens up
her vocals so she’s a greasy chip eater
I remember Little John we worked with
him brought when he came in he brought
his own wine he has a winery it’s called
little Jonathan Winer a case of crunk
juice and an ab rocker hand of the
studio so that was pretty surreal that
is definitely what you need to record
yeah yeah that’s usually the and then
him and Sean split a protein shake I
think anyone has his own a protein shake
thank you very much thank you
all right here
