that moment just there that moment of oh
wow I had that moment of excitement that
wonder I had that moment when I was ten
years old and I was standing in Hamleys
toy shop in London I was this high and I
saw a guy demonstrating a simple magic
trick and I I – I had that lot more of
just wow that’s incredible how do you do
that
so I spent all my pocket money that week
on this little trick and I went away and
I learnt it and that was it that’s what
got me hooked from that moment on I
carried on performing magic I got a
little medicine pieces presents from my
mom and dad family members for a
Christmas for a birth these old and
things like that and I carried on
through this for my school year for my
primary school and high school and I
came here to Edna Bruni pure University
and studied sports technology nothing to
do with magic at all what I did learn
though it was I learned about lots of
materials learn about sports and how
they’re a bunch of electrical and
mechanical engineering as well all
rolled into one
nothing to do with magic at all but I
always had a deck of cards on me I was
always and trying out different things
with different people and I’m gonna give
you an example that just no or Trice
birth they’re pushing him so he gives it
away my selling points coming join me up
on stage
right so we have you done any magic
before no no good wrongs away no we’re
gonna try something with a deck of cards
okay cinnamon and so we what need you to
do I want you to reach in I want to take
out any card you want don’t let me see
it oh it’s up to you
anyone you fantastic have a look at it
and can I get you to sign your name on
it for me all nice and big all over the
face of the card in front of it and then
once you’ve done that if you sure the
audience for me I’ll look away I’ll take
the pen back because they’re expensive
and I’m Scottish as very can I get to
shout stop for me wherever you want and
pop your won back on top don’t worry
it’s not lighting for trick so what I’m
going to attempt to do I’m going to try
and get your card to go from the middle
of the deck to the top without anyone
noticing watch closely here we go
did you see it happen good cause it’s
not happened yet
so can you tap the top for me that’s
what happens just there you ready these
six of Hearts I’m not saying sure card
I’m a since these six of ox very good I
know can I borrow your hand the signal
is just there I’m gonna take the sex and
leave it in your hand I’ll take the next
one the eight that wasn’t your card
either well that’s awkward
I’ll try something if they ate just over
here so write it and shake it disappears
always reappears paying my head though
I’ll do it one again for you I’ll show
you the front a hand and the back it’s
still there so what you know what that
is showing off the whole joke and what I
see is it’s actually misdirection it’s
misdirection the real magic actually
happened in your hand
pretend we’re sure everybody is a
fighter so
this is just the warmup it gets better
so we pop up back on top of me st. on
the top you’re king of clubs I’m going
to take a bear half the cards and your
King goes from the tops away into the
middle keep your iron it’s going to jump
to the top again can you push it into
the middle if you push it that’s it oh
no the big finale freezer I’m going to
leave on the top of the deck of cards
can you put your hand on top for me and
your other hand underneath it now this
part of the trick it comes with a
warning probably going to remember this
moment for the rest of your life are you
okay with that yeah are you sure yeah

three two one did you feel that happen

card actually disappears apart from your
assigned king of clubs which you can

what you just experienced there you
speaks a few tricks but on a more
personal level zoo experience almost
like real magic it happened just there I
just sort of this is what I do for a job
from a full-time job and after Gregoire
graduated from uni after doing four
years of studies and I actually
unfortunately missed my graduation
ceremony to my mum and dads delight
sorry I missed it for a reason the
reason was I was actually out in las
vegas working on a show out there for a
month
um and when I was in Vegas yeah I bumped
into a guy I was actually having lunch
one day and I in subway and I was having
a sandwich sitting there myself and a
guy came and scruffy-looking guy and he
came up to me and he bumped into the
tier when he said hey mate you want to
buy these binoculars only one of the
lanes works I was like no I’m okay
thanks just continue to eat my sandwich
and then he said and he left you up his
Tom he said you want to buy this machete
instead two historians and I’ll give you
both of them for $50 and just at this
point he sort of grabbed my attention
notice got a machete and he said I said
no thanks and he interrupted me and he
said I’ve not eaten for three days I was
like okay I could maybe solve this
problem I’ll buy your sandwich instead
and it’s sort of the expression on his
face he just like obviously really you’d
do that I was like yeah a bio sounding
she’d sit down we’ll have a chat so I
went bought my sandwich he sat down we
had a chat his name was Jeff and Jeff
has lost everything in Vegas he’s lost
his house his family all his money due
to gambling so we chatted about this we
chatted about and my sort of stories
well my background with magic and he
said hey if you could really do magic
could you turn maybe money I could you
multiply money I said you have any money
on you stupid question alien but he said
yes I actually have $1 on me and this
was Jeff’s dollars the actual one he
actually gave me this to keep as a
little souvenir of my time sort of that
with them that one time and this is the
trick that I showed Jeff so I took the
one dollar bill a shield both hands
empty I took it a full dinner and once
twice and three times justice and when I
click my fingers I changed the one
dollar bill into a ten pound note
sterling yeah thank you that was no yes
to Jeff I didn’t think he was going to
go travelling push so what I did do is I
shoot both hands empty afford it once
twice three times I said click my
fingers and that’s what I happened to
change back into Jeff’s one dollar bill
just like that and his face lit up just
like yours which brings me back to the
question is there more to magic than
just tricks I just did a trick but to
Jeff it didn’t seem like a trick it took
away from this world of having nothing
and – trying to sell machete and a pair
of binoculars to random people just so
we could eat so yeah that was Vegas and
that little story there and and also
what else happened after that really
made me think and it sort of got me
thinking about what I do it’s what I do
for a livin is it’s magic I put smile on
people’s faces yes it’s what I do as a
job but that’s not just because of me
doing the magic I suppose anybody out
there can do this he can poop smells of
people’s faces
I know story attack I’ll quit cousin is
that after doing all this and come back
from Vegas I am ended up doing at one
gig this sort of stood out for me and I
do lots of gigs to do a lot of weddings
corporate events private parties there’s
one private party was up the north of
Scotland and on this particular day I
was driving up there and it was it was
an 85th birthday party and a private
Harrison it’s just a small family
get-together so drew drove up there
through it was about two and a half
hours up north and here from Edinburgh
and it was torrential rain weather it
was horrible to me it took me ages to
get up there so I’ve actually arrived
and I did a small show in the living
room for the kids and then I went into
the dining room and performed for the
adults Oh everyone together and Messi’s
McGregor the woman that it booked me she
said can you come through to the to the
the other room and because we’ve got mr.
McGregor it’s his 85th birthday coming
up and we want to perform something for
him so I went into the room and yeah
went in there and he was in bed he
wasn’t very well and performed some
magic tricks and his face lit up again
just like your face is lit up when it
performed that little trick and is I
then left at the party and usually a
couple of weeks later I sense they’re
all my clients a lot of email going did
you enjoy the magic to get a nice review
and stuff like that and I didn’t hear
anything back I strange and then I had
an email actually two months later and
I’ve I just got it with me today so I
read it to you and it was for mrs.
McGregor and it says dear Eliot firstly
thank you so much for battling the
weather and making up to perform at our
little soiree the children and adults
alike loved your little short I think
you have a few new fans
my husband had not been very well and
the party was actually two weeks before
his 85th birthday we had moved the party
forward because of this unfortunately
never made it to this age and sadly
passed away peacefully on the Tuesday
Eden I just like to say thank you very
much the last memories we have of him
the smile on his face we did those
tricks we will never forget

your career mrs. McGregor is there more

time you saw mr. McGregor smile and be

other people look at nd might think as a

from their daily struggle it might be

happy stay focused and you can all do
this in your daily life so even if
you’re walking down the street smiling
people it’s a strange thing to do but I
do it all the time if you’re on the

with them
