don’t know if any I’ll know me or not
my name is Shepard I’ve been dancing
here and teaching dance in Austin since
I was 14 so since I was like some of
y’all’s age man I just went I kind of uh
you know this is before YouTube this is
before Instagram this is all that stuff
so I had to just like foot traffic it
you know what I mean so I went to a
dance studio down the street from my
house and I went in and I was just like
hey look I know I’m young no I’m little
but look this is what I’ve been doing
and this is how I started listening hear
people okay
humble beginnings are fantastic yeah all
right the way I started teaching dance
was I had my parents had like a big
brown panel van the ugliest thing you’ve
ever seen in your life
I promise um but I would wash the side
of the van and I would teach the kids in
the neighborhood like we play music out
of the van yeah that was pretty much the
way that I got started and then like I
said I went to a studio down the street
from my house they took me to a
competition and we won there and so they
hired me and then I kind of man I’ve
just been doing it ever since
currently I am I teach at Lisa’s Dance
Academy which is close to here and then
and then teach up north – and then I’m
on a traveling dance convention around
town and it’s crazy to me thinking about
like where I came from you know I was
just a kid watching Michael Jackson
videos yeah anybody and if you don’t man
if y’all haven’t seen thriller or
children do your research all right
I’m just saying parents in here you know
I’m talking about yeah okay so um just
moving on just I I you know like I said
I was just a kid who watched Michael
Jackson videos and instinct videos and
stuff like that and kind of
fought my way through it so I will say
this to you real quick because I’m about
to get down up here and I’m itching to
dance yeah so but I will say just no man
if if you’re fighting for anything if
nobody else has got your back no this
kid does yeah I feel you on that so keep
it going people hopefully y’all like
this get nice and hype I do want to
introduce y’all to somebody real quick
my best friend in the whole world
Jonas right here everybody say hey yeah
listen um this boy fought great in grime
the same way that I did he came to my
class one day I’ve seen him grow and
grow and grow and grow and grow ever
since he’s a member of a company in LA
right now he’s you know doing his own
thing he teaches around town and he’s
just a monster and on top of that man
he’s an amazing person too so hopefully
you guys like what we have to offer yeah
