hi how about
being a policeman means being charged
dreams implies being able to contain a
context but also be able to perform
ideas I am Juan Carlos Quiroga I am
officer of the national police
Colombia and I come to tell you a
history a story of how the
education can transform realities
in different contexts
I want to make reference to a small
image that you can observe
about two years ago I was
in a workplace in colombia a
place that as you observe me
I felt alone and that loneliness leads me to
rethinking many things to generate is
crisis
you and I many times in the step of
the days we have to be able to have that
ability to resilience and find a
I walk a north and that north is given
for giving an added value to our
service and especially for power
generate transformation in our
institution
What happen after
I understood that as a professional
police could have in my hands
fundamental tools to be able
transform society is like this
I can say that the power of ideas
transforms not only the contexts is
of space and time but also our
way of thinking and seeing the world
once you can get to the school of
postgraduate police a center of
training with high standards in
academic training and in training me
I found a challenge but to be able
reaching that challenge had to have many
elements that at that moment made me
missing one of them was to understand
our social context understand
our institutional context and more
important still to understand what they were
those potentialities that I could
develop
That’s where I found a space inside
of our police and I understood that no
it’s about degrees it’s about working
team up
in this teamwork was born a
important situation and fundamental power
that someone believes in our ideas and
how those ideas can reach
transform those realities that we
they make us people and agents of
social change
an idea that was being born from the
classrooms me how to make innovation
it led me to think how can I impact from
the educational context our service
of police is born to three elements
fundamental to be able to build a
idea the first one is to have a
idea that manages to generate added value and
that idea of added value was already
sown within our institution to
through institutional leadership I understood
that I arrived at an opportune moment in a
moment of change and transformation
social and an institutional reality
where education with a paper
important
but I wonder what they saw in me for
to be able to take on this challenge knowing that
many times I could not have maybe the
degree but if I had the desire the
motivation and part of the knowledge for
support in this transformative process
the person who built that idea me
allowed me to model a team of
I work and that team also work
to impart dreams to him also
ideas and most importantly work
dedication and effort is what has
led to generate today something that
we know as innovation
Social
that social innovation has a
fundamental characteristic and is that
he has a police p p where he is
identified you or you who is us
listening but also two months where
I feel identified what is the
main feature of this space
that this innovation from education
it has allowed us to
learn a method of innovation that is
It is taking place in the classroom with
pencils with ideas to power Peder
transform with work each one of the
ideas that we have without contributing to a
society especially build that
build has led us to interact
with people of the common with old people with
children with the citizen of apie and power
know their needs and work from
them to truly give a
meaning when we say
inspired by you
the question I want to ask you
is that I would be willing to do for the
others knowing that that concept of others
they are people that perhaps we
we know and that with our work
silent self-denying from a classroom
classes and especially since getting to
know and work for our ideas
we can build with them and a
fundamental element of being able to work
in these ideas has been the transform
we have transformed realities we have
transformed also a revolution
institutional education a revolution
where no matter how no matter
the experience time has made
ideas are built and worked on
actually with it we can say that
having a laboratory like the city
from Bogota where police community
institutions and staff of different
entities have worked in favor of
build a social transformation
we have managed to impact more than 12
localities but more important though
our ideas have impacted 6000
people in less than a year we have
generated dreams we have generated ideas
but ideas are transformed with
methods
that method is what has led us to
build a generational change and a
Culture change in our education
I invite you to break dreams
I invite you to break boundaries and barriers
those age barriers of age
many times the language barrier but
that brings us into something common we are
policemen and that pride of being a policeman
It also requires afloat that
what we do is seen
transform is this way where with this
methodology we have been able to reach
transmit the more than 25 countries of
police bodies where each of
they stand out in us in power
transform those realities that the
ideas have value I insist even in front of
that process what we seek with great
simplicity with that work flooded with
teachers of many times managers and
especially of people who believe in
the ideas
import the degree that we can build
a better country we can build a
educational reality that generates in
we great skills skills
of transformation because it does not matter
institutions its structure what
important is what you and I can
contribute in them to transform and
generate realities I invite you can you
make dreamers to be dreamers with
ideas that generate value that generate
truly identity to do so
that people come to us each
more day and why not leave a country much
more solid a country where education
where teamwork and above all
respect and work for ideas
they can inspire you and me
welcome to this revolution to this
educational revolution to this revolution
