nation-state is approaching a relevancy
and this should come as a surprise to no
one we have known since democracy’s
inception as a philosophy that this
would come to an end
it was Plato who said in the Republic
tyranny arises naturally out of a
democracy but why would that be a
nation-state is not the most effective
way to organize a group of individuals
fundamentally this system is structured
on perverse incentives that negates our
human capacity for empathy for real
meaningful connection to each other how
many of you have participated in a
democracy over the last year I want you
to ask yourself that question hold that
number in your head and then I’d like
you to ask yourself of the times you
have participated in a democracy how
many times have you personally affected
real change I would be willing to bet
that that number for every person in
this audience would be less than 10 and
the number of decisions made in a
democracy on a daily basis are
absolutely immeasurable
we are abstracting people from their
real value and robbing them of the
ability to contribute meaningfully to
their community’s political systems who
sacrifice the agency of the individual
are not free they are the illusion of
freedom dressed up as false belief and
false ego now this is like a child
running with scissors because when
participation from citizens is scarce
it’s usually because they feel neglected
an absent parent that neglect leads
toward either indifference which gives
the system the ability to exercise more
control it might make it easier to make
decisions but it doesn’t mean it’s a
democracy or toward emotional extremes
which may get people out to the polls
but for the wrong reasons
absence of perceived care from a
democratic system leads toward absence
of care from its people and if empathy
can complicate a fundamentally human
process I think it’s clear to all of us
we have an inherently unhealthy dynamic
politics are not ideology they are
systems of human action and these
systems are 30 years behind what we are
actually capable of democracy still
works on a one-to-one basis when we as
human beings are not a party system we
are all free thinking individuals with a
diverse dynamic set of unique beliefs
ideas and self identities now we have
the technology to make this possible
but we’re not using it now some of you
might agree with me and some of you
might think I’m literally totally crazy
and that is totally fine because it’s
not the first time I’ve been called
totally crazy it’s my favorite
compliment at this point but the power
that I want you to realize is that
you’re thinking for yourself because
that is freedom that is the point of
engaging in a democracy if we choose to
have one at all now you may wonder okay
who is this girl and why is she here

been talking about it for awhile I

democracy bubble originally in 2011
after I spent three months in
transcendental silent meditation with a
Buddhist monk and when you spend three
months literally deconstructing
everything there is to know about
reality when you come back into the
world if you want to integrate the first
thing you want to do is figure out how
to rebuild it from the ground up and so
I did I started studying political
theory economics and philosophy and ouch
yikes when I started studying it I
realized wow we are in a bubble this
thing is gonna pop there’s no way that
the systems that exist in the world
today are actually tangibly sustainable
it was like seeing the mortgage crisis
in advance and I was right this was in
2011 this was long before a Donald Trump
way before brexit and I saw the end time
coming and that same year someone showed
me the solution the way we would prevent
the fall of man in that same year 2011
an anonymous person approached me after
my talk placed a handful
of Bitcoin in my hands on a USB and
linked me to the forums and the white
papers and I was absolutely blown away
finally we had a system who could
respect honor and uplift the rights and
the powers of the individual now still
even after two massive international
upsets every time I talked to someone
about Gov tech the world seems to want
to fund a faster horse but we don’t need
to strap a rocket ship to a mule we need
a car and we have built one so I’d like
